Go to your insurance company's website. Blue Cross lets you check their reputation. Also Health Grades. They should be affiliated with a local hospital, not independent, and board certified.
I know most people use recommendations from friends or family doctors to find a good specialist. What if you don't have any friends who can recommend someone and the patient doesn't have a family practitioner to ask? My husband needs a GOOD gastroentorologist. We have not been pleased with who he has been seeing. He's not terrible, just a really bad match for my husband. We are clueless on where to start searching or how to find someone. Ideas and suggetions please. I am starting to feel a bit desperate!

I also agree with checking healthgrades website. I think the reviews are invaluable when choosing doctors.
Well, you could try this site for Keller, TX:

The reviews (# of stars) might be a good indication of happy patients...
And he CAN schedule introductory appointments--just to meet the doctor, discuss the issue, see if they "gel," etc. before any "treatment" begins, you know.
Are you willing to drive to Presbyterian Dallas?
We are happy with our doc. John Secor
I was reading an article about this the other day.
You almost need to interview them like a job interview. I think Angie's list has doctors on there too. Angie's List is a website that the businesses do not pay to be on like the Better Business Bureau.
