It's 100 degrees here, how do you all beat the heat?
I have a small toddler so I've taken him to the mall (a little tired of that),
play outside early in the morning and go to a friend's house to play.
Go to a park that has water works.
Don't have a pool and don't want one in my backyard (fearful of accidents).
What do you do? Looking for additional ideas.

What can I do next?

What about a slip-n-slide with your sprinklers?

We used to do this all the time when I was younger when we didn't want to go swimming. We actually did it at a couple of my apartments in college too haha.

Sprinkler mats that hook up to the hose and popsicles. The small plastic baby pools are really ok as long as there is good supervision. Also you can fill it as little or as much as you see fit. Now that my kids are a bit older (2 and 4) we put the landing end of our small playslide in the pool and the step side out of the pool on the grass. They love going on the slide and landing in the water! My kids can do the home slide (dry) and much bigger park slides ok but if your kid can't do slides yet this would obviously not be a good idea. The small plastic pools are like big bathtubs- kids just love splashing and using cups, sponges, small bath toys etc. in them. If you are really worried about slipping, have your kid wear water shoes with good soles - this is actually a good idea when you are at the water features at parks as well. Target sells reasonable ones in the sporting goods dept.

Squirt you and your kid down with the hose... my kids loved the hose when they were little, we lived in the desert and it was 120 for several weeks of summer.

You can sit in the kiddie pool with him, that way there is no accidents.

Water toys can get borring for you as a parent everyday! I have to get out of the house sometimes to keep my sanity! We go to Chuck e cheese every once in a while - it's not costly if you eat before you go - buy a couple quarters BUT my child climbs in the jungle gym they got there for free! Also, fast food play places (I buy myself a frappe so I am a customer and let the kids climb).
Gymnastics places usually have open gym where anyone can come and play around for real cheap - $3-$8, so does Pump It Up/Bounce U (places that usually have birthday parties at).
Also, look for a mom's goup/play group in your area. They usually plan play dates at all sorts of places, or just at each others houses...

I understand your fear of pool accidents, it can be scary. So what about just getting a kiddie pool? Depends on how old your toddler is but they have cool ones you can get that have a slide on them. The blow up ones are pretty fun and cheap too. They arent so deep and your child can have some water fun.

Or what about going to a community pool?

Slip n slides are fun, sprinklers.

Blow bubbles inside.
Make a fort inside and put up fans to keep cool. Put in a bunch of fun toys.

Squirt gun hide and go seek inside is fun. Not so much water to make a big mess but it is fun still. You can chase each other around and even have some friends come over to play too.

My kids enjoyed just playing in a big tub of water yesterday. It's usually used for our paper recycling but yesterday as it was so hot pulled it out. Then cups of water to pour on their heads.
