Hello all :) This may sound a little stupid, but how do i find out if anyone had filed a suit or a complaint against a daycare? My daughter who is almost 3 1/2 goes there already, but she can talk and tell me if anyone hurts her, and I am expecting in a few weeks and am very nervous about taking my newborn there. I would appriciate any help on this subject! Thanks :)

What can I do next?

You can always look at the Better Business Bureau website, www.bbb.org and see if the have had any complaints or what I did when I picked my daycare for my new born, drop by unexpected and hang out in the class she will be in for awhile to see how the teachers handle the younger children. Seeing is believeing. Good luck and I hope everything works out for the best.

Hi M.! I don't think it's a stupid question at all! I don't have much expertise on this issue, but have you checked out www.bbb.org for starters? That'd be my best guess!

Congrats on the upcoming arrival of your baby girl! How exciting! :-)

Good luck,

C.

DCFS licenses daycares, so they should be able to give you the records of license complaints and violations. I know some states have this information online, but I've looked for it in Illinois before and never found it (if you do, please post it!) You could try the DCFS day care information line: 877-746-0829.

This is not a stupid question at all!
Since daycare facilities are licensed by the state, I would pursue this option in addition to checking out the BBB. If you can find the right source from the state, their information might be more focused than it would be at the BBB. (Just like when people check out nursing homes.)
