Maybe he got a little burned out on it--but I don't think you are really supposed to give them--or push them--to drink regular milk til age 1. Maybe you should talk to his doc.
Hi,
I have a very active 10 month old son, who has completely lost interest in formula. He used to drink like a champ, but now he loves to eat, and I'm only able to get 10oz max into him through the day (6oz in the morning when he wakes up, and about 4 oz with cereal). He just won't drink any formula between meals. Any ideas how I might get him to drink more?
You guys are awesome! I am touched by the multitude of responses. I am new to this site and a new mom as well, and all of your thoughts and ideas really help. I am going to give it a shot. By the way, I edited my original question as I didn't make it clear the first time that I was talking about formula.

What kind of milk are you talking about 'cuz that makes a big difference on the amount/frequency. I breast fed my daughter 'til she was 12 mo's old. She decreased her intake of breast milk and was able to go straight to cows milk since I started weaning her at 11 mo's. If you're talking about formula you might want to try another type of formula. I'm no doctor, though, so you may just want to call one.
Warm it up and add just a wee bit of Ovaltine
Just add a little strawberry or chocolate Nestles Quick whichever flavor he likes just enough to give color and a little bit of sweet. It only takes about 1/2 teaspoon for 6-8 oz of milk to give flavor & color. The amount of sugar he gets is offset by the nutrition in the milk. I raised 10 children and I let them drink a bottle as long as they wanted for that very reason --to get the milk down them. They were all extremely healthy and have great teeth even though they took naps with bottles and we put 2 bottles of milk in the crib every nite so that when they woke up they found the bottles and went back to sleep! If he is weaned from a bottle try using colorful or crazy straws - anything to make milk special - a special cup or something he can only drink milk from. After every bite of food give him a swallow of milk. Hope one of these tips helps you.
They shouldn't be getting cow's milk until 12 months so I assume you're talking about formula. He should be getting the bulk of his nutrition from you or formula so perhaps you should cut back on the solids so he really has little choice but to drink his formula.
My daughter started doing the same thing once solids were introduced. I realized it wasn't the fact she didn't want the milk, it was that she associated it with sleep. So I put it in a sippy cup or let her drink it through a straw during the day. It is the only liquid she gets other than watered down apple juice when she is constipated. I also offer it to her every other hour to ensure she is getting hydrated during the day.
I hope this helps!
I wouldnt force it on him, he may be full and not as hungry especialy since he is eating solids . I always noticed my kids would barely eat and then the next week eat like a horse. It was always before a growth spurt. Also Remember their are lost of ways of getting dairy. Yogurt, cheese, ice cream, be creative in his meals. I give my son carnation breakfast mad with milk everymorning with breakfast. In the winter I heat it up and the summer leave it cold. The kind I buy is packed full of nutrition and he loves it...... I love that age I bet your having a blast!!
Good morning, Well it's funny because when i read this it reminded me of my nephew Wyatt. He does not like milk period so what we did was put a little chocolate just enough to turn the milk a very light brown and he loves it. The doctor says that is just fine and becouse we only add just a little his teeth will be just fine.I hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks T.
