My sister has 2 twin girls and is very cautious.... she wants to do a background check on someone she is interested in.
Do you have any suggestions as how she can do this and be safe about it. She is worried about sex offenders our men with bad criminal history.
THANKS

I think she can just go down to the police department. I think the only information that she would have to have his birthdate, and his full name. She can call her local police station and find out what the procedure is.
If done online, there are free sites but you only get minimal information.
Then you need to pay a fee, to get a full report.
Need to know the person's full name.
You have to do a Google Search for "background check" companies.
There are also sex offender sites, per State, that is 'public information.'
And since they have to be registered, as an offender etc.
It is good, she is thinking about her children.
Or yes, try asking the local Police Department, how to do this and where to get info.
Does she live in a bigger city than you? Sweet mother I couldn't find anything about your town online.
Here in St Louis there is a mess of stuff you can find online. Small towns, not so much. Start with public records, go from there.
Sex offenders and criminal court has public records. She can search an online database to find that information, especially for sex offenders. With criminal history you have to know the county.
As far as formal background checks- doesn't he have to consent to that?
In my city there is a public database, all you need is a full name.
Many states have a form on the state websites that you can complete and get arrest and conviction information on the individual it is requested for. But, I think you might need a social. Or you could just get by with a birthday. However, it will only be for that particular state. There are websites that she can pay for a full one. Just google Background checks.
excellent question! wish I had the answer...more so 4 years ago before I might my youngest's biological drone!
I don't have an ideas but I do have admiration for her. Good job for her wanting to protect herself and her children. You can never be too safe especially when your children are involved. Wish my sister had considered this with the last 2 losers she dated!
US Search was good and it tells you who all has lived with him so you can see if he may be involved. It would be best if she could find out his birthday and exact name. I did this several times for a friend who was dating online and we found out one was living with HIS WIFE and KIDS, one was living with his parents(at age 52), and one was only in his 30's living withi his elderly parents. She found her husband and we checked him out too, but used his social security # which was in his wallet while he was mowing the lawn for her.
You have to have the Social Security number of the guy fir a real one. You could try googling his name but if it anything like mine it is no good.
(some Canadian that ran fro Prime minister or something like that has the same name as me... so if you google my name you get her and not me.)
Just make sure she does not get a false sense of security if she finds out the person does not have a record. Not every sex offender gets caught.
tell her to be careful even with a clear background... it's the ones that have never been caught that can be even scarier (sex offender wise and domestic violence)
