I have the pads so he can't roll over from his back to his stomach, but he just won't sleep at night on his back or side. Please give me some advice this worries me. I have four children and seven grand, so when I had babys they slept on thier stomachs. But now this worries me.

Get an AngelCare Monitoring System...It monitors there breathing through the night or nap and then you can sleep knowing if there happens to be a problem it will wake you and the baby can sleep comfortably. My daughters are now almost 2 and 4 and the 20 month old still sleeps with it...for my peace of mind!

My daughter started to sleep on her stomach about the same age. I think it is ok she started sleeping all night once she started sleeping on her belly. I was a little uneasy at first also. I would go into her room a few times through out the night to check on her and she was fine! I really think it is ok you just need to become ok with it.

There is no problem with your grandson sleeping on his stomach. Sleeping on the stomach does NOT increase the risk for SIDS.

My daughter wouldn't sleep for more than 30-45 min at a time on her back, it was killing me not getting any sleep and the increased danger or letting her sleep with me and my husband so we could get some sleep. So one night when my husband was out of town and I knew I had to get rest since he wouldn't be there so I tried it. I laid her on her tummy, she was 2 mos old, she slept 5 hours and I didn't sleep as much as I hoped because I was worried and anxious, but it just turned out that she was a tummy sleeper, and many babies are. Just make sure there are no pillows or heavy blankets in the bed and no smokers in the house and keep the room he's sleeping in cool, all these things are also helpful and preventing SIDS, also if he uses a pacifier that's recently proven to be helpful as well.

I think that the normal advice is that once he is able to roll over, he is fine sleeping how he wants to sleep. My son was always swaddled and still somehow managed to get out of those positioners and anything else we tried once he was able to roll over on his own. So, try just starting with naps and letting him sleep how he wants...maybe small steps will help you with the transition!

All 3 of my sons slept & still sleep on their stomachs & as long as you don't have all toys & blankets all over the bed I wouldn't worry about him not being able to breath. Babies have a thing for comfort & when they not happy or can't breathe properly they SCREAM!!!

Keep him in a long sleeve/pants PJ for the cool air at night.
OR just layer him with a light cover such as a recieving blanket. that is what my babies always loved.

Try placing him on his side with a recieving blanket rolled up one in back of him slightly under his butt & one in front. It gives them the feeling as if someone is holding him. It's back to that comfort thing Babies LOVE!!!

I can't remember how old my daughter was when she did this. We started out always putting her on her back to sleep. Then all of a sudden she would flip over to her stomach on her own after we left her. We tried to keep her on her back, but she always flipped. So, we would just put her on her back & let her get comfortable however she wanted.

I think that as long as they are able to roll themselves back to their back or side, it is ok. You just don't want them to be stuck on their stomach.

My daughter is only 7 weeks old and has been sleeping on her stomach since she came home from the hospital. We tried to get her to sleep on her back and she would not sleep well. She would wiggle all night long. We could not get any sleep. I put her on her stomach one time and she slept perfect. My first daughter did not like her stomach. Each child is different. I would not worry about it. Let him sleep the way he is comfortable.

My daughter slept like this... I just let her stay on her belly. I made sure that she was able to lift her head up well (she did lots of tummy time). I checked on her often (regardless of her position).
