We just checked in to a house sitter and the rate was $30 a day. (I'd imagine that would be per house if you have 2.....) When you figure gas, time, etc. in to what they ask to be paid, it sounded about right.
I am wondering what the going rate to house sit is? I will be needing someone to house sit two houses for only 3 days. Pretty much just to take care of two dogs at one house and two at the other. Nothing else, but just to feed them once a day. What would be going rate be? Thanks for your help.

My niece is house sitting my house, which has 2 dogs and a saltwater tank from April 3rd - 11th. Normally I pay $20/day when she house sits, but since it's for a longer period of time this time, I'm giving her $200 total. I think $20/day/house is a fair amount if they're physically staying at the house. If they're only having to check in a few times a day, $15 or so may be okay, but that would be for just one house. If $40/day is too much, then I would figure out $5.00 per time she is at each house. Only brings it down to $30/day, but you have to remember that it's inconvenient to leave and go to another house 3 times a day. just my two cents :)
usually around $17-20 per day, per house plus a couple of extra dollars per extra pet, then add in $1 per day for mail pick up, (all this is per house), $1 for plant watering. $5 for key pick up drop off (one off charge)
if you wanted a twice daily check, then there would be around a $10 for the second check/walk of the day
i am setting up a business, which is how i know! you are out of my area unfortunatley
check out petsitters.org for someone near
She'll have to walk and water the dogs, too. That will take longer and require more than one trip a day to each house.
