Rate of Pay for Dog Sitting

You might want to ask around the neighborhood about what the going rate is or even just ask the girl what she charges. I would think at least $10/day, probably more, depending on how much time you are expecting her to spend with your dog. I pay a professional dog sitter $16/visit (so $48/day when we are out of town) to take care of my two dogs. They are older and need to be given medications also. The dog sitter also brings in the mail and newspaper, cleans up the dog poop in the yard, waters flowers and generally watches the house. Is the girl going to be doing any of that for you? That might be a factor too.

I don't have dogs, just 2 cats so my situation was a little different. This year we paid the neighbor boy $5 per day to come over one time a day to pick the litter boxes, change water, check the food, and then play with the cats for awhile. We paid a professional $35/day in past years (though she spent more time at our house). If she will be coming twice a day I would think $10-12 per day would be reasonable.

We typically pay someone $100 per week to care for our dog. It seems a little high, but it's woeth it knowing that our pet is being cared for.

Since she has to come over a few times a day, I would give her $100 for the week.
