We're gearing up for the superbowl and wanted to make my own hot wings from scratch. Can anyone recommend a particular hot wing sauce or brand that they love and/or have used? Thanks!!

I know I'm late to the game on this one, but as a Buffalonian I thought I'd let you in on the secret recipe. Melt some butter (amount depends on how many wings you're making - you need enough to coat them) then add Frank's hot sauce and whisk together until you get the desired heat level. I recommend making the sauce a bit spicier than you think because it seems to mellow when added to the wings. Cook the wings without sauce to get them crispy, then toss them in a bowl with the sauce just before serving. This is the original recipe from the owners of the Anchor Bar who invented Buffalo wings. Duffs serves great wings but they weren't the first ones to make them. :)

I deep fry the wings for 8-10 minutes then cover them in a red hot sauce and butter combination. They are so good..

My husband has been on a hot wing kick this past football season. He loves the Paula Deen hot sauce. It is a bit expensive, but really good. If you're on a budget, the 99cents only store has a pretty good hot sauce that he uses. It sounds like we need to give Frank's a try one of these days.

We always use Franks! I like the crispy ones, so I buy wings from the deli at wal-mart and then we put Franks sauce on them and put them in the oven for a little bit. YUMMY!!!

My husband buys a sauce called "Wicked" Wing Sauce... I believe the label is Yellow or Orange....Comes with a Seasoning packet. If you want to cut the heat add a few tblsp of bbq sauce. They are out of this world! Good Luck and Enjoy!!

Duff's in Buffalo, NY, use Frank's Hot Sauce. Duff's is the original maker of Buffalo wings.

Franks is the way to go. We are known for our wings and we use Franks. May I also recomend Lighthouse Homestyle Ranch Dressing for those who are not Blue Cheese fans. Great texture and flavor!
Enjoy!

Franks is good! I see everyone saying that. We sometimes get just the powder seasoning (you can find it by the gravy packets and such) on naked wings (not fried) in a bag with some olive oil to really coat them and then stick them in the oven for a bit! A little bit healthier too. Happy Eating

Hello. I'm a little late responding also but Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner. Frank's Hot sauce combined with buter is the way to go. I'm a former Buffalonian and Frank and Theresa's Anchor Bar on Main Street in Buffalo originated Buffalo Wings. They're an Italian restaurant and I always tasted "light italian seasoning in their wings - so I add a little oregano to the butter/Hotsauce combination right before tossing. It's delicious. I really think they marinade the wings in secret spices before cooking.
