So What Happened?

thanks to everyone who replied...Im 32 yrs old...yeah you are right i have lots of worries because my baby is sick with cough and never sleeps through the night, wakes up every 3 hrs for milk...maybe Im experiencing hot flashes because I feel so hot internally, I cant explain it but sometimes i would wake up and take shower even if our room is air conditioned, i will even open the electric fan for the air to circulate, my husband thinks Im nuts because he said its already cold inside the room but I still feel hot...Im also hypothyroid and experiencing restless leg syndrome at night.

Chances are you are probably not having hot flashes. I went through a similiar thing. My doctor explained that hormone flucuations will cause you to feel as if you are going through change. With you having a 5months old that is probably the case. Do you take birth control now?? You may want to talk to your OBGYN and see if they can fix it. I had to be taken off certain birth control now am doing better. Best of luck to you....Hope this helps you out.

Hi Hazel - are you breastfeeding too?? I had hot flashes for quite some time while breast feeding. It took me about 5-6 months before they went away.

It appears that your hormones are playing with you. You should have your estrogen checked. It sounds like you are a little low. Especially since it sounds like you are to young to be menapausal due to having a five month old.

Hello by now maybe you have had all the information that you need. I started having HOT FLASHES when I was around 25. I had a partial hysterectomy when I was 23 then I have had three children all grown by now, but the HOT FLASES are still lingering on. I am now almost 68 and have them terrible mostly in the day time but often at night too. I hope you do not do this. I have started taking Estro Ven from Wal-Mart (i think that is how it is spelled) and they seem to help. I did not like the side effects that the Dr.'s give.

I think the easiest way to describe hot flashes is that your internal furnace just kicked in and it was set on about 1000 degrees. My face turns very red and a hand fan just won't do it. I keep my ceiling fan on in the bedroom at night and I also have an electric fan on my dresser aimed at me if necessary. Night sweats are when you wake up soaking wet with sweat. And it also WARM. I keep a light weight blanket to take off and pull on as needed.

I was told that there are HOT FLASHES and then there are NIGHT SWEATS. What I experienced (sure glad they are over) was BOTH: I would wake up in the middle of the night and be so hot and sweaty that the covers would go (didn't care where they went at that time). I always kept a hand fan by my bed. I would pace the floor and use it until the night sweats would settle down so I could go back to bed. Made for an interesting night when I worked the next day. Hot flashes came during the day when all of a sudden I would feel like I was standing on a register blowing full blast. I would break out in a sweat and either walk outside or fan myself with what ever was near me to cool down. Sometimes, I would sit right in front of a fan. Those lasted longer than the night sweats did. I don't care what they call them, they seemed pretty much the same to me. I never took meds for them because of all the side effects I heard of and I don't take meds unless it is very necessary. I got through them by the Grace of God.

Hot flashes can occur day or night. You are just suddenly extremely warm, sometimes to the point of sweating. They can last for a minute up to ten in my experience.

Night sweats are different but are as extremely unpleasant.

It is a hormone imbalance, basically.
