Horrible Diaper Rash with Teething

My son is the same way but I just alternate what diapers I use to see if he has different reactions to different brands. I also use Aquaphor Eucerin Jelly on his butt, it helps a lot. His rashes get so bad they bleed, but the stuff I use seems to work really well. Its just spendy. Good Luck!

What i did for the diaper rash do to teething and if b/c of juice and this does work put on cloth diapers till the rash goes away and if anything just do it till it goes away but i like cloth better than i do diapers so this is how i did it but i used cloth diapers and gerber EZ-covers and now i can't find them in stores but you can go on line and find other brands like at babiesrus.com and just look and they have some good ones. all of my children have bad skin. when i took them to my doctor for the same thing, I was told to use bag balm. you can buy it in any farm or vet store. i know it sounds off the wall but moms have been using it for ages. it works great. it is really good for kid with sensitive skin

Both my kids had the same problem. My son is 16 months and just a month ago had the rash and we tried all kinds of stuff, this sounds strange but turn a lamp on and let it get hot, then hold the bulb a few inches away from the rash for about 5 minutes. Be VERY careful not to burn the baby. This is suposed to dry it up. It's an old wives tale my mom used on my siblings and I. We also used sunburn aloe to help soothe it. Good Luck!

the best diaper rash remedies I have had are bag balm and mary kay extra night emmolient cream for the hands. With the bag balm you can get that at any store. it comes in a green sqaure tin. the mary kay emmolient cream is by far the best. if you have the money to get it of course. i applied it to my baby's bottom and in 2 hours or so the rash was gone. that stuff works wonders. with the bag balm it will clear it up in about 2 or 3 days at the very most. both are extremely fast acting.

My little guy had the same problem. The only thing that worked for him after trying so many other things is something called Resinol. It is actually for burns, wounds, cuts, things like that. The only place that I found it was Hy-Vee however it worked wonderfully! Good Luck to you, I know how terrible teething can be and to add the terrible rashes is just as frustrating, but we finally got relief with this.

TRY CORNSTRACH. PURE CORNSTARCH, IT'S FOUND IN THE BAKING GOODS AT YOUR GROCERY STORE. IT REALLY WORKS.

You may be dealing with yeast infections. I would have a doctor check it out just incase.

I experienced this as well with my daughter. What helped her diaper rash was doctor prescribed Wanda's Miracle cream. Good luck!

My son has also had a very bad diaper rash if you are using a new diaper that could be part of the problem my son breaks out if I put any kind of diaper on him besides Luvs. If it's not the diapers I would suggest A&D Original Ointment it will do the job especially if it's a yeast infection.

Our Ped. said that teething babies produce more acid which often causes diaper rash. I was told by Ped. to apply Mylanta to the diaper rash w/ a cottonball and low and behold it cleared up immediatly. (She also stated he could also take it orally, which we had done before for reflux, however he was on an antibotic and wasn't to take an acid reducer at that time) Hope that helps...It worked for us Rash wasn't toooo bad though

My sister daughter had terrible diaper rash and they discovered that some of it cleared up when the stopped using Pampers diapers. they started using Huggies. Sounds weird I know but the only thing we could uncover was that Pampers use so much "perfumy powder" in their diapers that it was irritating the irritation. But it did make it a lot easier to treat the diaper rash when her diaper was causing part of it.

Try Butt Paiste with Gold Bond Baby powder. Also, have your dr write you a perscription for Mystatin. That works well too!

I had a bad time with my kids diaper rash so my ped. recommended triple butt cream. It is a combination of zinc oxide, nisatin and mylanta. Which will cure yeast, acid and any other ailment. It worked miricales and I would recommend it to anyone how ask. Also letting air to the affected area works wonders also. I used a large waterproof pad in the play yard and just let them roam for a while making sure if they had an accident to get it cleaned up asap. Good Luck.

my daughter had this once and when i took her to the doctor they prescriped a burn cream that was excellent!! but a word of advice...when they have really bad diapers rashes stop using baby wipes and wipe their bottoms with just warm water. the kitchen sink sprayer does wonders!! it really works and also instead of using diaper rash creams you can try vaseline it works miracles also.

When any of my kids or daycare kids have had diaper rash I have always used Bag Balm and I swear by it. You can get it at Walgreens or Walmart by the lotion. It's in a green tin can. It will be gone in no time.

The diaper rash maybe a yeast infection...try monistat or the generic equilivant when the baby is teething. It could be that the baby's urine or feces is more acidic at that point and the yeast many find the perfect environment to bloom.

You might want to cheak and see if she is allergic to the meds (if any) that you are using for her teeth. Take a look at what she's eating. My daughter was very picky about her food while teething. If there's more fruit in her diet it could be something like to much fruit acids breaking her out. Also, you might want to ask your Dr. about digestion. It could be a yeast infection, so try the antifungal. Baking soda and baby powders are good but be careful that she doesn't inhale any.

I was going to recomment mylanta but I see it has already been suggested a few times LOL... that worked the best for me and my kids got horrible rashes. the nystatin which is antifungal is really good stuff too and I read in one of the responses about the triple butt paste? I seem to remeber my doc mixing me up some of that and it worked great too... the best thing though is air and alot of it.. I had a nurse one time suggest putting the baby under a flourscent lamp while he slept (lamp pointed at bottom) she said that would help dry it up that kinda scared me a little so I never tried it butI guess when desperate any advice helps right? I hope it clears up there is nothing worse than having your baby in pain and you just feel helpless.. hang in there!

I noticed an awful rash on my 6 mth old's bottom this week! It is only in one area in a patch about the size of a 1/2 dollar. The bumps were very red and raised when I first noticed it. It has dried up alot since I started using desitin on it, but I was wondering what it was since I am very careful about diaper changing too. Does this sound like the same thing to you?

Don't beat yourself up about it, it's very common for babies to get diaper rashed while teething. :) My son is not prone to diaper rashes, but he has been teething lately and we had a couple spring up. Usually butt paste or "triple paste" clears it up. If it has bumps like a yeast rash, try tinactin (sp) for athlete's foot. I'm going to write down some of these other remedies for my own information! :) Good luck.

Both my older daughter and twins would get terrible diaper rash when they were teething as well. First we used aquaphorine/maylox mixture but didn't work well. Then our doctor told us to use 1 part antibotic cream 1 part 2% hydrocortisone cream and 1 part lamsil cream(yes foot cream) mix it together and put it on the babies bottom in the morning and night. It worked wonders it cleared up in a day. I would destin in between changings. I swore by it. You can use the generic brands it doesn't matter just use all three equal part. Try it and I don't think you regret it.
Oh by the way we only used pamper bay dry for all three kids. We never had an issue with diaper.

I know exactly what you mean about the rash. It is horrible what those little ones go through while teething. My doctor recommended an over the counter product called "Triple Paste". I had to buy it at CVS but it was a miracle cure and she had it something awful!
If all else fails you may look into having that on hand to give it a try too! I hope it gets better...

When I breastfed my daughter, she had diaper rash so bad that she was bleeding. We were told by a nurse to soak her butt in baking soda (it doesn't burn) and then pat her dry and use athlete foot cream (we used the generic at walmart) and I couldn't believe how good it worked. She usually cleared up over night. As for teething, we used "teething tablets" they disolve in the mouth and are herbal so there is not risk of overdose.

Ok my daughter had it so bad that even some of the pastes would sting. Then my doctor told me I could try to sit her in some warm water with baking soda in it. It drew the pain, redness and dried it up almost over night! Then also I ordered some stuff called Dyprotex. It comes in individual lil tubs with a sponge applicator. It didn't sting and it is the best stuff when it is severe. You use this little sponge applicator to dab it on. You dont use your hands to put it on because this stuff does not come off easy. It is the best stuff to clear and protect I found. My doctor gave me some perscription ointment, and it didn't help it much at all. I did try the Mylanta, but you have to let it sit for a while a pour off the liquid part on top and use the thicker white stuff that sits on the bottom. I still prefer the baking soda and Dyprotex.

I so know where you are coming from!!!! For a long time now, my daughter has had horrible rashes on her bottom....Trust me, I change them often too. I did narrow a lot of hers down to an allergy to strawberries. But what are you to do because she loves them!!!! Anything that has strawberry in it breaks her out!!!! You can just smell it when she has a bowel movement that is so acidic. I am still battling this with her and she is now 25 months. I know when she was younger she couldn't eat the banana strawberry baby food or the peaches!!! It would always make her have the sick bowel movement!!!! She still to this day cannot drink orange juice or even eat an orange.

I thought that I have tried everything with her!!! But, I have never heard of the mylanta.....trust me I will be getting some when I go to the store!!! Anything to help!!! It gets so bad that she screams, locks her legs together, and hardly will even let me clean her off!!!! The Butt Paste has been the best that I have found!! But still does not take care of it fast enough!!! Really think about the foods......anything acidic will have a effect!!!! GOOD LUCK!!! she might have a yeast infection. if regular diaper rash ointments aren't working, try an otc yeast cream. baby gold bond medicated powder will help clear up the raw spots.
