M.O.
We went to the local pottery store and painted a BBQ platter..it wasn't cheap, but it is a one of a kind masterpiece and something he really will use all summer long.
I would like for my son to make something special for daddy for Father's Day. He is 6 so very capable of doing anything. Can you tell me what was your favorite homemade Father's Day gift? Even if it was a Mother's Day gift that could be altered and given to a dad, that would be great too.

My kids gave me a t-shirt that said "We love you dad."
Then they put their hand prints on it in some sort of paint. I still have the shirt 25 or so years later. Its been worn and washed multiple times. I still love and value it.
Good luck to you and yours.
We made a mug, too. If you decide to make one you will need to do it soon because they need about a week so they can fire it in the kiln.
Another year we decorated a travel mug from Starbucks with pictures and drawings.
Familyfun.com has some cute ideas too.
My husband drinks coffee quite often so the girls painted him a coffee mug. He uses it almost daily. :) (We went to a place called you do the dishes, specializing in painting items)
Take some pictures of your son holding different sports balls - bowling, football, soccer, baseball (if your man likes sports)...or better, have your son dressed up in different sports uniforms. Then make a collage and give it as a card or frame it.
Me and my girls are going to make a scrapbook page for my Dad (their paw paw) from one day last summer when he took all four of his grandkids fishing. We're going to put little fishing trinkets on it, with pictures of him teaching his grandchildren how to catch their very first fish. :) Then we're going to frame it in a scrapbook frame and give it to him. I know he's going to love it!
How about having him paint something that your hubby can use? A remote caddy? BBQ utensil storage? Tackle box or something like that?
Go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby - they have great ideas!
We are doing homemade stepping stones with my daughter's footprint each year. Eventually I hope to make a cute path with her little footprints leading somewhere in our backyard. I think homemade gifts are the best!! Since he is 6 he could probably get pretty creative with it and not just do the footprint....they have kits with mosaic tile pieces and all sorts of neat stuff.
We have a journal that we bought and decorated. The kids will make a journal entry every Father's Day. It's fun to look back and read the journal entries.
A hand painted peice of pottery.
