I have the bissel upright and Love it!!!!!

I have the Bissel Pro Heat and I like it. It gets up spots from kids and pets great. I use it mostly for spills and accidents, but occasionaly just to clean a room. I will still hire a professional at least every couple of years to come in and clean the carpets really good.

I have the Hoover Steam Vac and have had really good success. The best advice I read about on the internet was to NOT use the premixed carpet cleaning solution. Instead use a mixture of Vinegar and HOT water. It seems vinegar is the miracle cleaner. If you use the premixed cleaner it will leave a residue because you can never rinse the carpet enough to get rid of it. The residue is a little sticky and then just attracts more dirt. Which starts the never ending cycle.

I do not know how much you are willing to spend, but man after I rented the rug doctor from Ace Hardware for $24, I was so impressed with it that I am saving up to get one of my own. My carpets are 4 years old and it made them look like they were brand new. Rent one to see for your self. Hope this helps.

I have a Bissel and LOVE IT!!! I dont remember the exact model, but you would have to decide what model based on the intened use. I have pets and this gets up all of that mess.
