I have looked at a ton of things. I can help you with some information so that you know what to look for. I do a couple of different things from home. If you want to pick my brain please feel free.

Well this post will get all the MLM/direct sales and pyramids hitting you up.

Working at home is WORK. Companies who have employees working from home have guidelines set up which include.... Child care etc

You can't work from home for someone else and watch your children. If so, everyone would do it!!

Think outside the box.... Babysit for others, bake, houses it, petsit, etc

Good luck

I know a lot of moms who work in direct sales. It gives you a lot more flexibility than a normal job, as you can work it as much or as little as you need each week. I personally sell Mary Kay, I've been at it for almost 2 years now and it's been a great fit for me & my family. I have friends who sell Tupperware, Scentsy, Thirty One, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, and so on.

The only ones I have heard negative things about recently are Avon and Melaleuca, but I also know people who have been successful at each of those companies. You just need to find a business that fits you.

You can check out www.dsa.org to see all the reputable direct sales companies.

If you have any questions about how I run my business, or how/why I chose Mary Kay over the other companies, please ask!

Hi! Seams like we are in a similar position. My son is also 18 months. And I too was looking for something to work with while staying home. Thank god a friend of mine told me about a business that I can build at home, on my own pace. I loved this idea! They trained me from beginning to end. I don't have to specialize in direct selling. (I'm very shy person.) I don't know about you, what exactly are you looking for? A job? Or you want to be your own boss? Pay off debts? Have more freedom? Afford vacation? New cars?
I'll give you this link, just check this out, no obligation! It might get you to the dream you always wanted!

Good luck with whatever you do! At 18 months these kids are adorable! They only get cuter and cuter!!!!

Medical Transcribing.
Babysit another child and make some money that way.

I, too, was hoping I could bring in income while staying home.

The only thing I was able to do was:
-have garage sales
-sell things online
-sell all my jewelry, gold etc.

How about an in-home daycare? You'd have to get licensed & insured. Not sure what else the city requires of you but it's an idea so you can make money while you stay at home w/your little one.

Child care.
Any other legitimate "at home" job will still require you to put your son in daycare so taking care of one or two other kids makes the most sense, it will give you some income with no childcare costs.
Either that, or finding a job evenings and weekends (or whenever) your husband is at home.

Your 18 month old provides some great opportunities!
Sell or consign his outgrown clothing, shoes, gear and toys. eBay, Craigslist, consignment shops.
Do some PT child care for similar age groups and BAM! Play dates and buddies for him, moolah for you!

It will be HARD for you to work at home with an 18 month old.
I have heard www.hiremymom.com is a reputable site.

But really, I think if you use your time to sell things, and focus on other ways to save money, you can probably break even with air king OT from home.

Now, if you have a specific marketable skill set that can be adapted to home work, that's another story...
