So I have an IUD, and this is my second time with one, the first time I conceived my son, but lightning can't strike twice, can it? Well, for the past week I have had all of my pregnancy symptoms (lethargic, heartburn, airhead, lack of focus) and then today I was playing with the kids, and out popped my IUD, needless to say I am freaking out! If you do the math that would make Cam and baby number 3, 13 months apart! So, I took a test, but it was hard to read, and I am five days before my period should be here. What do we think?

So What Happened?

Thank heavens I started my period! I don't think I have been that stressed out since I was a teenager, but, I am in the clear this month! Time for the good old abstinence method, I hear its 100% effective, poor Mark.

Hi K.,
Call your doctor, if you haven't already. I too have had 2 IUDs. I really loved them as apposed to taking birth control pills. I never had any complications or malfunctions with them ( they stayed in).
Chances are you are not pregnant because females ovulate approx. 14 days after the last period.
Let us know what happened.

I'd ditch the IUD all together, welcome baby #3 if you are pregnant & use a different method if not. Wait a couple more days if you can stand it to take another test & try not to stress out. Two of mine are 19 months apart and they are wonderful friends, though she was unexpected, she's a major blessing! Then I got twins after that. Such surprises in store that we never even knew we needed! Take care & have a great day.

It's probably pretty early to have symptoms yet, no? Maybe your symptoms could be the result of coming down with a little cold or something - there's a lot going around right now. Or... you could be pregnant. You know your body better than anybody, and if these were the symptoms you had last time, well... here's to #3!

Although, if you are pregnant for the second time while having an IUD, next time, try another method! ;)

Hi K.
First, what someone else wrote in terms of women ovulating 14 days after their period is just NOT true... not all women are the same..that is such a misnomer.. still can't believe some women believe that.. anyway.. you can have those symptoms a week before your period as well. I wouldn't stress out about it yet... and if you are, go with the flow. it is what it is.. your hands will be full .. but then again, children are such a gift.. you are blessed

Um....happy pushing? =) It may have been your body reacting to losing the IUD too. Wait a few days and take another test.

I agree that it's probably a little early to be having symptoms. That being said, a line on a pregnancy test is a line. By hard to read, do you mean that it was very very faint, but there was a line (second line) there?? I would probably not be using an IUD anymore if I were you. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to hear if you are really pregnant or not!!
