Holiday Photos on Stainless Steel Appliances?

you might try Command strips by 3M in an inconspicuous place to see if they leave a mark. They have lots of different products including poster tabs and paper hangers.

I don't have a stainless steel appliance but I use that poster tack for everything. Looks and feels a bit like silly putty. You might give that a try.

Why not create like a holiday scrapbook and leave it someplace where you and guests can glance through it, like the coffee table or entry way? Oh, and congratulations on your awesome upcoming gift...I mean baby! If you ever have thought about using a doula (and don't already have one), I work in the Englewood area all the time!

I wouldn't tape anything to your stainless. I have a stainless fridge, and I'm not sure I would chance messing it up. They are too expensive to replace. I do however have a suggestion about displaying your photos and cards. Tape them to your front door. You can't damage the front door with tape. My best girlfriend did that last year, and it looked so neat and festive. It was fun to look over them all as I was leaving her house. I have started my display this year on the inside of our front door, and so far I have two cards that my little ones made, and a picture of them on Santa's lap. I'm excited to fill my door up with greetings from our friends and family. We have an open floor plan, so you can see the front door from just about everywhere on the upper level of our house. I'm so glad you posted this question because it gave me lots of ideas. I like the front door and string idea. But I think I'll also use the garage door for other things I don't want everyone to see at the front door.

I'm not sure if it would work, but maybe sticky tack? It's not supposed to damage like tape.

I've been making what I call MagPoints, using discs of plated steel with poster tape on the back, companioned with very strong magnetic 'push-pins' to allow notes or photos and such to be attached to a stainless steel fridge.

You can make your own by merely attaching poster tape or the more permanent foam tape to the back of anything steel and mounting it on your fridge to then accept any of your own magnets.

For fun you can stick some poster tape on a cork slice, glue it into a bottle cap with your own sticker on the front for posting notes to.

I used to direct photo shoots for appliance companies like Maytag and Amana. I can tell you that these products have stickers all over them when they are new. Everything from point-of-purchase materials, feature stickers, sale stickers, price tags, you name it ... To get these products ready for photo shoots we had to get them sparkling.

Most stainless steel cleaners are oil based which is the exact same thing adhesive removers are made of. I would double over your tape on the backs of pictures to help insure you're not picking away tiny specs of clear tape. But rest assured, the tape marks will clean up in no time flat!!

I found two products that work the best for cleaning stainless steel:
The first is Twinkle. It comes in a blue and white can and says "for commercial and industrial use only" It is a water based formula that works GREAT and actually helps keep fingerprints at bay between cleanings. Usually this product is something you can only find at hardware stores.

The second is Weimann Stainless Steel wipes in a gray and black plastic can. Usually top shelf at Target in the cleaning supplies section. Great for quick clean-ups and daily use.

I do the same thing but got my new appliances last year..... now I just hang all of the pictures and cards on the inside of our front door with a piece of clear tape. It even looks better and now less junky in the kitchen.

A few years ago I taped ultrasound pictures to the front of my stainless fridge. They were there for a few months. When I took them down, there was a mark where the tape was, but after cleaning it with the stainless steel cleaner that came with the fridge, there was no trace. I mean... it's metal. Even if it did leave a nasty mark, you could use dissolve-it or even soap and water to clean it off. You have to be more worried about scratches than tape or even stickers from the kids. It does come off with a little elbow grease. And if you're only leaving it up for a few weeks, the tape probably won't even leave a mark. Also, I used regular scotch brand clear tape. Hope that helps. The other suggestions for alternate ways of displaying your mementos are very cute. You may just try something like that if you're worried about it. Good luck!

I hang a strand of yarn on the wall on two nails and clip the cards and photos to it.

The side of my stainless fridge is exposed in my kitchen, and magnets work on it. If you can't use the side of your fridge, I've seen the cutest "clothesline"-type Christmas card displays. You just anchor a cord or decorative ribbon to two places on your wall and then use clothespins (or cuter clips) to hang up the cards and photos. I've even seen this done with a piece of wood labeled "Look what I did!" and bulldog clips to display children's artwork and school work. Looks great in hallways, but it would be easy to string a ribbon around a mantle if you have a fireplace. I, too, use poster putty for everything, but I've never tried it on my fridge--I like to keep that as the one clutter-free spot in my house! Best wishes!

I know you said there are not many places for your pictures but if you have a few extra frames laying around you could put them on the wall with little 3M strips and not have to pop holes in your walls. They make new ones that look like velcro. It will hold up to 10lb frames.

You might try sticky putty, like what you put poster up with. I don't know if it will stick to stainless still, but it might work. I know tape will leave a thin residue if left on the fridge too long.
