As far as education, PISD schools are excellent.
The problem with Plano is that there are entirely too many kids. Each senior high in the district graduates over 5,000 kids a year.
I live in Plano but my area belongs to Frisco Independent School District. Just wanting to hear from other mothers with kids in High Schools. Would you recommend a school in Plano and if so which one. So far the schools for my kids have been good but they are been moved to a new school. Any recommedations ? I am even willing to move if necessary.
Are PISD schools better ? I want a solid education for my kids and just need some feedback from other mothers. Anyone recommeds a private schools like JPHS ? Is it worth it ?

I had 3 kids go through the Plano ISD. If either one of your kids may be an at risk student, I would not place them in PISD. One of my boys was bi-polar and they suggested he quit school when he turned 16. Until he became sick, he was a straight A student, and always the teachers pet. The best thing I did for him was get him out of the school district. Another son was having trouble keeping his grades up, and instead of working with him, they made the same suggestion. He was devistated. He was told to leave. He did so, and got his GED within 1 month. He never caused any problems in school and always did what he was asked. If there is a slight chance that your kids may fall in to these categories, I would not consider the PISD. You always hear how great we are, but don't believe anything you hear. We moved here for the school district..........what a mistake!!
Hi there. I am actually a former student of Plano schools and even though at the time I didn't like school much I have to say that Plano has some of the best education in the country. I went to Jasper H.S. and then Plano Senior High School. PSHS is an extremely high level senior high school and it is difficult b/c they expect so much from their students. I have read how Plano rates to other high schools around the country and I know they rated Plano schools very high. You might want to look around the internet, and look at their test scores. Please let me know if you need to know anything else.
Thanks,

Hi R., We also live in Plano but are in the Frisco school district. We've lived here since 2000 and have helped start 3 new schools as this area has grown (Borchardt, Clark, and Centennial). When my youngest starts middle school in 2007, he'll begin in a new middle school, and, from what I've heard, will probably end up attending a different high school than his sister. However, we have always had an excellent experience with FISD and don't plan on changing. My response is only to encourage you to have faith in the Frisco system. They're strugging to keep up with the growth, but doing an excellent job. From what I've read, their system is almost better than Plano. Part of their success (and struggle) stems from the fact that they strive to keep teacher/student ratios low as well as the ratio of veteran teachers to new teachers. Good luck with your decision making!
I have a much younger little sister who is in the seventh grade and also has a Plano address, but goes to Frisco schools. My parents say that Frisco schools are by far the best out all the school districts my brother and I attended. My little sister loves her school, and she has always gotten very good grades. The teachers are great, encouraging, and challenging. My parents have never had a single complaint about the schools in Frisco.
R.,
Hello, My son will be a freshman at Frisco high school and I have no worries at all.
My friend and husband whom I go to church are teachers and he is a teacher at frisco she said that FHS is the best by far.
I cannot speak for any other districts, I have been truly happy with the schools my son has attended since grade school. I moved to Frisco from Chicago and I am very happy with that decision we made with his academics, sports and his friends. My son is done really well in school and has been in Pre-AP classes. I am happy with the education, he has recieved so far no complaints.
Good luck,
A.
I have lived in Plano for a couple of years and have a daughter entering first grade and one entering kindergarten. Even though elementary would be fine, we are opting to do private schools because the class sizes get huge as they get into the upper grades. Your child's senior class might have 1500 kids in it. How are average kids supposed to "shine" in an environment like that? An at risk child could really fall through the cracks. That's just my personal opinion. Good luck!
