I am trying to get my almost 3 yr old, potty trained and its not working. I have let her come with me to the bathroom and sit on her potty chair, I have also told her that shes a big girl now and big girls don't wear diapers...I have told her that her little brother needs the diapers because hes a baby (he's 9 1/2 months.) I would love to here back from all of you....I need some help.

What can I do next?

hahaha- I only laugh because we are doing the same thing with my son. My daughter learned to use the potty by 2 yrs and now my son will be 3 on sunday and nothing!!! My advice(to keep us both sain)is that eventually they will learn to use the potty. Besides, as annoying as changing diapers is, it is crazy annoying to run to the potty at a split second to help with potty duty. Good luck ( to us both!!!!)

I had a hard time potty training my son as well...although I've heard boys are harder (whether that is true or not). The best thing you can do is give her time! She will potty train when she is ready. I tried way too early with my son and he is almost five and finally potty trained. Some kids are just slow with this. I know diapers are expensive but in the long run it's better not to push them emotionally. And I've learned it's best not to say diapers are for babies. It may hurt their feelings!

Good luck!!!

what i did was just take the diapers away, yeah there was a little more laundry to do, but it worked in less than a week. we still use pull ups at night only, and he hates it, but until he stops sneaking off for water that is what i have to do.

If it helps, I just brought my son into the dr for a check up. HE is 3 1/2 and not potty trained. I have been working on it for 6 months!! Our pediatrician laughed at me and said stop pushing, he just isn't ready and won't do it until he decides he is ready. We still work on it a bit but I no longer push it and am not stressed out about it!!!

When she is on the potty peeing have her notice that "tickle" feeling and that is her "got to go feeling". That way she correlates what that feeling is.
Another thing that worked was when Ava had an accident we would "practice" going to the bathroom 10x in a row. I took her to various places in the house.
For instance:
IN the living room
"Ava if you are watching TV and you get the "got to go feeling", what do you do?"
She'd reply "Put pee and poopoo in the toilet"
Then we would run to the bathroom and she would sit on the potty for a second or two. Then we would go to another part of the house and repeat this for a total of 10x.
After the second accident and second practice she said that she didn't want to practice anymore and did not have accidents after that. We potty trained in 4 days and have been dry every day and night. :) Good luck!
