My daughter is turning one in July and I am looking to buy some books dealing with toddler issues (health, discipline, development, etc.) that will be helpful for my husband and me. If you could give me some recommendations, I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
"The Honest Toddler - A Child's Guide to Parenting" .... Because you will need to see the humor every.single.day.
I think if you have a typical toddler and you use com,on sense, you won't need a book.

Even if you don't have a 'spirited' child per se, there are a lot of common sense, great ways of changing your perception of situations that really have helped us through our son's toddler years especially as it relates to discipline and countering a situation before it escalates.
I really liked "How to Raise a Brighter Child". It was based on Dr. Montessori's method of teaching. (Montessori School)

Touchpoints by T.Berry Brazelton...was my bible. How to Behave so your Preschooler Will Too...some issues you won't be ready for but lots of good info/ideas about modeling good behavior for kids and having appropriate expectations. The Baby Book by Dr. Sears. HTH

Of course there's "what to expect the toddler years" I think that's the title...everyone I knew had that book
I usually find more current articles online...from multiple authors and real moms.
All the books by Dr Ames are great for understanding development. Your library should have them...they are called " your two year old," "your three year old', etc.

The "How Much is Enough?" overindulgence book by Jean Illsley Clarke and David Bredhof (new, revised version coming out soon), and the "No" book by Dr. David Walsh - they both have awesome, longer titles, but you can find them by author's name. Neither book is as harsh as you might assume by the subject/title, they are both VERY readable and non-judgmental. Just very sensible advice and suggestions about real-life situations...they are my go-to parenting books for my kids and my daycare families.

If your child is "spirited" which is a nice way of saying tough...I like the book entitled "Your Spirited Child."
"1-2-3 Magic" is great, too ! I like the video. I suggest this technique when your child is a tad older.
The library is a great place to get most of these books !!!!
See if your area has local parenting classes, too.
