I have always had great luck with Hyland's teething tablets. They dissolve very quick and work like a charm!

We went through teething with my son and daughter over the past three years. Both my kids have 12 teeth at 12 months. Oragel works great for those times where they are just beside themselves. It will not do anything to the teeth or gums, it is just a numbing agent. However, watch that you do not put too much on or they will lose some of the sucking reflex and they will have trouble with feeding. Also, go and get some teething rings and put them in the freezer. This is very soothing on the gums and will reduce swelling. I would give my kids a little Tylenol (1/2 of the normal dose) before bedtime during those particularly painful times. Good luck.

I used all natural Hyland's teething tablets. My son would settle down and be able to sleep. I also did frozen bagels until he could bite them, then it was too much of a choking hazard. Good luck!!

Hi M.,
I use these drops by a company called Boiron and the name is Camilia. Best thing I found so far! They come in individual little drops so it's easy. It has no taste, it's clear liqiud like water. You can find them at Vitaminshoppe. It calms my son right away. I carry them everywhere I go. Worth a try-A.

I just used some teething rings placed in the freezer and wet washcloths placed in the refrigerator to have him chew on. Our pediatrician said the Orajel washes away too fast and isn't worth using.

I used Camilia also. It works very well. Also I got my son a little teething blanket at Target. It's small and has textured rubber corners. He loved it (much more so that the stuffed animals designed for the same purpose). I only used tylenol or motrin when they couldn't sleep. We used cold teething rings, lightly frozen washclothes. See what your daughter responds to.

I was having lot of problems w/ first boy, then a friend dropped by w some Hyland's brand teething tablets. Holistic, can be found at Walgreens for about $5 for i'm not surehow many, 50 or 100 in the bottle, they are tiny, dissolve immediately and both my kids who would be crying from the pain would pretty much immediately settle down for a few hours. Best thing is, they are all natural!! AND that they work too!

Orajel always got me into a fight with my three - they don't like having a numb mouth. I talked to the doctor and he said that it was okay to give them tylenol and/or motrin as needed. The small amounts that they are getting now are not enough to be considered "dangerous" if it is looked at in their consumption during an entire lifetime. It helped my kids dramatically. I also fed them frozen fruit at meal times - the mixed fruit with peaches and strawberries and honey dew melons are always big hits. The berries are great too, they just require more experience eating solid foods because they are smaller and have "skins" that are tough to chew. When they were younger, not much fruit was eaten, but it made a great chew toy (give big pieces) and entertained them for a much longer time in the high chair while I cooked the rest of the meal. Also try ice cubes wrapped in wash cloths - more as a carry around the house treat (if you don't mind wet spots here and there!). The only other thing I know is lots of rocking and very little else (especially housework). This is one of those times when the old says about housework always being there and babies not really needs heeded. Good Luck!!

When my daughter first started teething she was the same way. I used Little Teethers that I got at Walgreens. A friend of mine had used the all natural Humphries tablets and they did great also but when I read the label they have sugar. Little Teethers did not bother her teeth at all-she now has almost 6. It is alcohol and sugar free. And it is cheaper than Orajel. When the pain was really bad I also gave her a little Infant Tylenol.

They make teething tablets that you can give to them, I used them for both of my girls, they seemed to help a bit. You can usually find them by the Orajel. Also, you can try infants Motrin for the pain also. I have never heard of Orajel making it harder for the teeth to come through. We usually tried the teething tablet and Orajel at the same time. Good luck!

Do you have a mesh feeder (http://store.babycenter.com/product/code/3925.do)? You can find them at Babies R Us. I put frozen fruits in it and my son loves it. I also make sure he has plenty of toys to gnaw on.

Hi M.!
When my kids were teething I would freeze things for them (bagels, bananas, peaches, strawberries, etc.). That way the frozen whatever felt nice on their gums and tasted good too! That orel jel stuff tastes terrible and doesn't last. Please be sure if you do this too watch when they start to bite that they don't get too much and choke!
Good Luck!
