This season, like many people, my "allergies" have been acting up. I've never had problems before this year. I get severely itchy eyes, nose, and throat; I sneeze over and over and my nose runs. It hits me out of nowhere. I've been taking some generic Claritin when it hits, and I do experience a little relief. Can anyone recommend a good OTC product for these symptoms? How about some eyedrops for itchiness? Should I go to the doctor for this, or will he not be able to do much for me? Thank you so much for your help!!!! achooooooo!!!!

What can I do next?

I use Zyrtec pills for myself and Zyrtec Liquid for my kids. Ages 1 and 3. Recommended by my Doctor and works fine.
Don't leave your windows open at night or early morning. Thats when Allergens are bad.

You have gotten lots of good advice. Another option: I take alfalfa tablets and it helps. Alfalfa is a natural antihistamine, but you have to take several tablets.

If your allergies are really bothering you and your insurance covers it, I highly recommend going to an allergist. It's just much more efficient! You can find out what you're allergic to, get recommendations for the best treatment, and then limit/prevent your exposure. I finally have mine under control after years and years of "treating" it the wrong way. Message me if you'd like more details. I've seen Dr. Lumry and Dr. Buchmiller (same practice) in Dallas. I hope you feel better soon!

I always have the same problems year after year. As for OTC, Clartin Reditab works and Zertyc liquid or tablets. I can't recommend any drops because my drops is by prescription only. Benedryl as a last result will work also but DO expect to be drowsy after using it.

Try over the counter Zyrtec and if that doesn't help, I use Veramyst (a prescription nasal spray). My allergies are also all centered in my nose and upper face/head and with veramyst, I get instant relief. If you asked your doctor for a prescription of this, you could carry it with you and use it when you have an attack of the sneezes & itches.
