Hi V.,
I have twin sons age 6 1/2 one still wears pull ups at night and one doesn't. I feel your son will let you know (as mine did) when he is ready, I really wouldn't make it an issue.
Good Luck!

My son is about to turn 6 and he still wears pull ups at night. I am trying to get him out of them and have stopped giving him drinks at 5 . I get him up at 9:30 pm to go to the bathroom and at 3 or 4 am he wakes up with a wet bed.
Any help, strategies are welcome

Hi V.! Search this topic in the archives. It was just covered pretty thoroughly in the last month or two. My own entry was that my fabulous pediatrician told us not to worry about the diapers until our daughter turns 8 or 9. Some kids just haven't developed yet at 5, 6 or 7 to the point of being able to control nighttime wetting. Support your son and his confidence level. Don't make this a "problem." Good luck!
Hi, V.,
It sounds as though you wait 4 1/2 hours, between 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., from the time you give your son a drink to the time take your son to the bathroom. 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours later, you find his bed wet. If he needs to go every 4 1/2 hours, then I would not be surprised that his bed was wet 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours after taking him to the bathroom. It sounds as though you have a few options in terms of preventing the bed (sheets) from getting wet. (1) take him to the bathroom again at approx. 2:00 a.m. (2) let him wear pull-ups. (3) put the "wetness sensor" that some of the people on this board have mentioned on your son.
Good luck,
Lynne E
I agree with the other post---my son is almost 6 and is still unreliable with staying dry. It's not worth the stress and the worrying about the drinks, etc. Wearing a pull up will just make everyone more relaxed and there is nothing wrong with it. Some kids just need extra time to develop the ability to control their bladders. Good luck!
