Our 2 year old daughter is at an in-home daycare that has only 2 other children (one of which is the daycare's son). My daughter and the other little girl (who is under 2) both sleep in playpens. Well my daughter has mastered climbing out of her playpen and is messing up the room where she is sleeping. This is really upsetting our daycare lady...which I completely understand. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my daughter in her playpen!?!? She sleeps in a toddler bed at home but we still have issues with her playing in her room or dragging out clothes. But it isn't a huge issue at her house since it is our stuff. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

WOW! This totally wasn't the responses that I was looking for. I don't expect our daycare to watch her every single minute. My daughter is a climber...always has been! The kids take naps upstairs in the various bedrooms and during their nap our daycare provider tries to pick up her house a little bit and then get lunch picked up. My daughter usually escapes BEFORE she lays down for a nap. With the kids being upstairs I don't think I would be able to hear her either...she is pretty quiet when she is doing things she shouldn't. I have to admit that I was a a little disappointed in the responses, but thanks anyway.

Hi M.,

Well for starters if your daughter is sleeping in a toddler bed at your house there is no reason why your daughter can't sleep on a mat or on a bed. I watch a little boy who is 17 months old and he sleeps on my sons bed. When his mother switched him from a crib to a toddler bed I switchd him from a playpen to the bed. In my opinion a 2 yr old is a to old to be sleeping in a playpen. I would advice you to tell you daycare provider to switch her before she gets hurt. And on another note how long is your daycare provider leaving your daughter in the playpen. When children wake up they should only be left in their playpens for no longer than 30 minutes. The minute my daycare kids wake up they are let out of their playpens and we are ready to go again. I have only 2 kids that sleep in playpens right now. T

I only have one suggestion for you, have the day care provider check on her sooner. I mean if a two year old is waking up and running around the room and making a mess then obviously she needs to have something to occupy her time. I would suggest day care check on her sooner.

Where is she napping?

I have a home daycare. All of the kiddos nap in the same room. Some are in pack n plays, others are on nap mats. If she sleeps in a toddler bed at home, she should be sleeping on a nap mat at daycare. The daycare provider should know when she's asleep or awake. She should not be left in a room unattended.

How long is she in the room with no adult to keep her from making a mess? Maybe a baby monitor is needed to keep track of when she wakes up. I can always hear when my boys are up and moving around. I wouldn't be comfortable knowing they could get up and make noise without me hearing.
I don't know what to tell you if you and her daycare provider are wanting her to stay in bed. Good luck.
