I'm wondering if any of you are having trouble with bees and if anyone has suggestions on how to get rid of them. My husband has made our backyard a beautiful oasis with tropical plants and a beautiful lawn. We also have a pool. We started getting bees visiting the plants like in the past, but now they are swarming all over and they actually come after us. My son was stung over the weekend but he had put his hand down on top of one that was on the ground - by accident of course. We have a swarm of bees in the garage tonight. I've noticed bees by garbage cans around town so I'm thinking they may be worse this year, but I don't know. Any suggestions?
If they are honeybees and not wasps, please don't destroy them. Have the hive professionally removed.
Husband says: Locate the bee-hive. If it's on your property, then you can pay to have it removed. If it's not on your property, then you cannot legally get it removed.
I guess that might not help your immediate concern. I dunno what else might help, other than moving your flowers farther from your house.
Bees - they keep the garden pretty, but they are annoying ! You probably have the only green tropical oasis garden in Texas, so you are getting all of the bees!
Call your animal control and find out if they know a bee keeper. We had a huge swarm in our yard once and called AC. They called a local guy who came out and with smoke got them into a container and took them to one of his hives. Bees are valuable, so don't destroy them.
I'm way up north in Wiscinsin and I now at this time of year the animals are storing food and finding places to hide during the winter. This does include insecets and spiders. I notice a lot more aggressive insect behavior in the late summer and early fall. I know bees don't like smoke; is it possible that you can use a burn pit and wood that is a bit wet so it smokes more to deter them? You can of course call pest control but if you don't know where the nest is it will probably cost more than you are willing to pay.
There was a post on here a few weeks ago about flies and the person who posted was told to hang plastic bags of water by her doors and that would get rid of the flies. I don't know if if works for bees.
