I know this has been asked before but there's just way too many too look thru! I need child care for my 3.5 year old son. His daycare is kicking him out for being "too active". We've talked to someone with the irving isd & she said it sounds like he's just "super smart". I can't afford a private school & he's too young for preschool in irving. I'm paying $85 a week right now which is just about right. I think he might need something with less of a play enviroment & more of a learning enviroment to keep him interested & focused. Thanks for the help!!!

What can I do next?

Hey! I'm new here, T., Single Mama to Zoey Star (9*9*04). I'll be making my first move from Arlington into Fort Worth in the next week or so and have been keeping kiddos in my home for the last three years! Unfortunately for me and my childcare-kiddos the drive is just too far so I'm recruiting new families. I feed 80% organic meals and we go on outings often! Zoo, Story time at the library, parks galore - etc. I'm very loving, believe strongly in attachment parenting and all aspects of it and would love to keep a child or two between the ages of 18 months and 4 years (older is okay, too!) I say this age range b/c in order to keep a consistant schedual for outings I'll need everyone to nap at the same time and I know younger babies typically nap twice. I'm training to be a lactation consultant and I'll be a La Leche Leader in the very near future. I keep a homeschool ciriculum and my two year, eight month old daughter can spell her first and middle name - recognize all letters and the sounds they make and we do 'school work' everyday. Arts and crafts are my favorite (and the kiddos!) and we work on a different 'subject' everyday. Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you know might that might be needing someone in that area.

3.5 isn't too young for preschool at some places, keep looking around. BTW, good luck finding a great program for $85/wk... you get what you pay for...

"Too active"??? Did your daycare give you specifics? I cannot imagine a daycare kicking out a child simply because he is advanced. Some children need more attention than others and do not do well in large classrooms/daycares. Perhaps he needs to move to a daycare where the teacher/infant ratio is smaller. In this case,I would suggest an in home daycare.
But I would certainly inquire as to what the daycare you are using means by "too active". Because if it is a behavioral problem, you may want to ask your pedi to conduct tests to rule out Attention Deficit Disorder or Hyperactivity.

I would suggest Discover and Share in Coppel but you won't pay anywhere near $85 which when I was looking for preschool/daycare there wasn't any that were under $170.00 a week. Discover & Share does do some learning during the summer but mostly during the school year. My daughter has gone there since she was 2 1/2. And she can read, do math, write all kinds of words, and speak some spanish. (she teaches me some!) They are a great school and have great teachers. Unfortunely we are leaving due to we live in Lewisville and they don't take kids to our school so now we have to do something different so we thought we should do it now so she can meet kids she may go to school with. They are a very diverse school to which I think is great. They will learn about all different holidays and how everyone celebrates. There # is ###-###-####.

It sounds like a Montessori environment would be perfect for him. A little pricey but worth it. They have that free flowing, learning process. You can check them out, just google it.
