B.G. asks from East Alton, IL

I need some help. I just moved to the East Alton area from Bloomington, IL. I am kind of down in the dumps because I cannot find a job for some reason and really don't know anyone. My husband works with his family. Which his family is nice and great but I get tired of being around them. I have a five year old son who just started Kindergarten and the schools are different around here too. Which I expected but I kind of feel like once I take my child to school I cannot get in to see for myself what they do in class because the school is on lockdown. What is that about? Other then that I am really homesick because I lived in Bloomington all my 32 years and now moved here to help the family but I really don't want to be here. I am trying to be tough for my child but my husband really doesn't care how I am feeling or what I am feeling. I am down in the dumps all the time and I would like someone to talk to even if it is just online or something.

What can I do next?

Hi B. I'm so sorry you feel the way you do, cheer up and get out of those dumps QUICK! I'm not really familiar with Alton but I can get familiar. I don't no what field you are looking for but there are a lot of great jobs in St. Louis, which is where I live. I work everyday M-F 8am-5pm. I am a phlebotomist and E.M.T. I have a very busy 4 year old daughter. The school might be locked down for the children's protection well let me ask you what do you mean by lockdown? You are more than welcome to talk to at anytime about anything on line or you can call me @ ###-###-####. Hopefully I can be of some help! HANG IN THERE B.!

Hello B.. My name is L. and I live in Granite City IL, which isn't too far from Alton. I am a 29 year old mother of 2 boys, one is 4 and the other is 18 months. It's tough moving from two completely different areas. There is no place like home. I know that because I moved up to the Tuscola IL area for a year and came home every weekend to be with friends and family and ended back here. If you want to have play-dates, let me know. I work M-F 8-5 and my skills are accounting and human resources. We attend St. Elizabeth's church in Granite City and there are wonderful people there too. What type of skills do you have or what type of work did you do when you lived up north?

I can help you with the search since I am very familiar with the work force and the metro-STL area.

Hope to hear from you and I know it takes time. Hang in there! The good thing about where you currently live is, there are very nice and helpful people in your area and in the surrounding cities.

L.

B. G,
I live in East Alton also and I would love to have a new friend. I have 2 children, a boy that is 10 and a girl, 6. Do you attend church? Please give me an email and maybe we could meet sometime and talk while the kids play at the park. I do work 8-5 Monday-Friday so it would have to be around that.

Please let me know,
K.

Hey B.!!! I live in Mascoutah and have lived here for 5 years. We moved here from CO. Try that one!!! LOL
I found most of my friends through the school and I am sure you could do the same. I recommend sending a note to your son's teacher and let her know that you are willing to help out in class. I know that they would be excited to have the help. You will have to fill out a volunteer form and have a background check but that is it. Then you could help out some mornings a week. That may make you feel better!
Do you like to read??? You could go to the library and see if they have a book club that may meet once a month or so.
You can always call me!! LOL I am a stay at home Mom but all my kids are in school now. I do volunteer at the school on Wed and Fri and I do in home parties to make $$ and get away from the kids.
I am FULL of ideas girl!!! :o)
Hope this helps call me anytime. ###-###-####
