OK ladies, I need your help. We have some candles on sconces over the couch. Well my DH lit them before we were having company, and when I walked through the living room I noticed one of the candles had dripped onto the couch. It was a lot of wax, so I scraped off what I could, the problem is the wax that got into the upholstery. How do I get rid of this or do I have to live with it on there. I read that someone used WD40 to get crayon out of a car seat, will this work for candle wax too. Has anyone been sucessful at removing wax. I am willing to try almost anything, the couch was given to us and it is old. But with rising prices, we can't afford a new one yet.

What can I do next?

You're talking about cloth upholstery, right? I've never tried this myself but I've heard it works. Put a cloth you don't care about over it and then iron it with a hot iron. Depending on how much was is still there, you might have to do this several times.
Good luck.

My DH did same thing on light colored carpet...with a red candle! Got most of it out, though the color stained a bit. First, scrape of as much of the wax as you can with a blunt knife or spatula. Seriously, get up as much as you can. Then take a brown paper bag and your iron. Put the bag on the wax and your iron on the bag. You will begin to see the wax soaking through the bag (will look like oil spots). Do this until you've gotten up enough to be satisfied. Hope that helps!

I agree with CJ M...scrape up as much as you can and use a towel you dont care to distroy and use a iron on med. heat to soak up the wax. It may take several tries....

Worked great on our carpet.
