I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a baby pooping to much. My 8 month old baby boy, is having 3 to 4 poopy diapers a day. Is this normal??
I have been feeding him a tiny bit of people food lately, but not that much to make him poop so much.
Just wondering....lol

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your wonderful responses. LOL :) Sorry I know it was gross, but I had to ask. Its been awhile since my oldest son was a baby. And my 2 yr old, has Downs Syndrome and he has a hard time going, so I have to kind of help him along. Sooo, thats why I was asking about that. The baby is eating baby food and I give him little bits of people food to, so I guess that explains it...lol!! Thanks again

My daughter is 8months old also. She poops 3-4 times aday also. This morning I woke up at 4:15am to change a poopy diaper. That has never happened before. It started when I introduced 3 baby food feedings aday. My daughter has no teeth yet, so people food is limited.

I found different juices sometimes caused an increase. Apple juice didn't seem to cause increase bm's but grape juice and white grape juice was like a laxative-maybe try some for your two year old... HTH LaurieK

I think it is totally normal. My 22-month-old still poops about 2-3 times a day! And he eats VERY healthy and only a minimal amount of junk, like french fries and chocolate. If you are still concerned, take you son off of anything that is processed, including some formulas and ive him more soilds. At that age my son was only breastfeeding once or twice a day and eating all solids (jars of organic babyfood-no meats).

Hi my daughter who is now 19 months old still poops 3 times a day most days. She's done this since she's been out of the "infant" baby stage. You know what I mean? LOL! She doesn't even eat that much ;-) The ped says it's fine and I've asked other moms who also claim that's about right. Not so much fun though when they start eating more solid foods ;-)

My son is 16 months and he poops an average of 3 a day, too.
I think this is perfectly normal. Their digestive systems work faster when they are little. That is why you will see so much of what they eat come right out!

My now 16month old baby poops alot too. Don't feel bad, I can just change him and hear what sounds like he just past gas and the next thing I know I am changing a Diaper. Nothing wrong with it. Just make sure and check the consistancy. If it is a diarrhea one all the time make sure he is drinking enough fluids to keep hydrated. Otherwide no worries. Mine like to go on some days up to 8 to 10 times in a day. And we eat a very healthy rounded diet too.

Hi L.. My children was the same when they were that age. It is normal popping going that often but if is watery or diarihea then you should worry. But, the best way is to contact your pediatrician. I hope this will relieve your fears.

Hi L.,

My son is 27 mo. and until recently, he always had at least 3 poopy diapers a day, mostly 4-5. Now he has at least 2 a day.

I asked my doctor and he said it was fine; however if you have concerns and its out of the ordinary for him, ask your pediatritian on your next visit, maybe he has some food alergies that may be causing too much pooping.

Although not fun on your end, that is a sign that your son has a healthy digestive system.

Actually everyone (including adults) are supposed to go everytime they eat! Otherwise the ummm "leftovers" are sitting in your body, sort of stuck in traffic ewww
