I wouldn't be too worried. You could talk to your ped when you take him in, but I wouldn't make an extra trip. Some kids poop more then others. Seems like I'm constantly changing a poopy diaper from my two!! :)
For the last couple of weeks my son has been having a bowl movement after every feeding. Sometimes it is small and sometimes it is large, but it is afer EVERY feeding. Regardless of what he has formula, baby veggies and or fruit. I'm just wondering if this is normal. He has a doc appt in a couple of weeks, but what was wondering if I should take him in sooner.
Thank You to all who responded :) I have decided to wait until his next appt (two weeks) and then talk to the peds, but from the many responses it sounds normal and I no longer need to worry or be concerned. Thank You again!!

Hi M. Y -
Pooping after every meal is perfect normal. From the time my boy was born he would eat, then poop. Babies poop anywhere from 1 time over a period of a few days to 5 or 6 times in a single day. I remember my pediatrician telling me not to worry when the baby pooped multiple times per day, but to begin getting concerned when 4 or 5 days pass with no poop at all.
I'm also sure the baby's digestion is getting geared up for table food. He's on fruits, veggies and probably baby cereal? The consistency of his poop will also change over time - it will get much softer (sometimes runny) when he starts teething. It will change color based on what you feed him. With a 3 year old, you probably know that already.
Good luck with your little one, and keep your eye on that poop! It's like the barometer of baby health. :)

Have you introduced any new foods, switched brands of formula, anyone had a stomach bug?
So here is my thoughts A) he's gotten a new food that he is allergic/sensitive to.
B) a new or different brand of Formula isn't agreeing with him
C) he's got a stomach bug/or his gut flora is off
So the remedies...look back over the last month have you introduced any new food or formula...if so...get rid of it.
If it's a stomach bug/gut flora issue. Get some Yogurt that has Live active cultures in it. That will help realign things.
This sounds perfectly normal. Just as long as the stools aren't to runny and he is still having wet diapers so he doesn't get dehydrated. Just ask your peds. GOOD LUCK!!
Your baby is healthy. 3-4 bowel movements a day for everyone is a sign of a healthy body. One a day is a sign of constipation. Be grateful that your baby is not storing his waste in his body.

My son is 8 1/2 months and he does the same thing many days...I can actually count on it. I'm sure it's not a problem. Regularity is a good thing. I think it just means that things are moving through fine. Actually, adults are suppose to have at least 2 a day but most don't because of lack of water, lack of exercise, and poor diet. You could ask your doc the why's of it, but there's no need to go early.
M.,
As long as the stool isn't runny I don't think it is a problem. However, if you remain concerned call your Doctor and discuss it over the phone, after all that's what they are there for. I call all the time with questions, even when I think I know the right answer and I'm often surprised with what they tell me. It only takes a few mintues, and it usually makes me feel much better.
