Hi J.!

I have two small children at home...I understand what you are going through!

Try giving her Motrin instead of Tylenol...Motrin helps with the pain plus the inflamation and it makes them feel much better. also, I have been using some homeopatic tables that you can get at Whole Foods or even wal Mart..thry are calleed Highland tablets...they are marvellous! My pediatrician recommended those and it those make a huge difference. I only give those at night!

Good luck!

Could be an ear infection. I'd call the Dr.

J.,

I would try Motrin, it helps with inflammation. I personally wouldn't use Orajel anymore, an ingredient in it makes babies even more fussy.

If tylenol or motrin don't bring the fever down I would call his dr.

I would call the Pedi at this point ... low grade fever for a few days would get me worried, and if nothing else a comforting talk with my pedi would help calm me down. I have not had the best experiences with getting a little one to sleep as of late myslef so all I can give you is the support that you are not the only one out there with lack of sleep issues and I hope you can find peace again soon.

Hey there,
First of all I feel your pain, and can assure you, now that my son is 9 months with 8 teeth, it will get better!! However, I agree with no orajel, motrin, and I have been told that you can use Benadryl (1 tsp. per 25 lbs.) to help with the pain. Rub part of it on his gums, and he can drink the rest. Also, our FAVORITE thing during the day was frozen mango or other fruit (just dont do bananas or strawberries way to messy and strawberries could cause an allergic reaction) in a mesh feeder. We just boughtt a bag of frozen fruit at the store and he would chew on that thing forever it seemed like. The mesh feeders can be found in the baby isle near the pacifiers etc. I would swear by it for at least a little sanitwhile you are in the kitchen :) It really will get better, but I would check the ears too just to be sure! ~A.~

First of all, I wouldn't do anything frozen or from the freezer b/c it can actually bruise the gums, thus causing more pain for the little guy. Just running some cold water over the wash cloth will work fine. Also, we did the Little Teethers Tablets. It dissolves very easily in the mouth, so don't worry about choking. They have a night-time formula that helps to put them to sleep, it works wonders! Good luck and be strong!

Hi J.,

If it is teething, Hylands teething tablets are the best!! They are homeopathic and they melt in their mouths!! I gave this to my son all the time, he knew eventually what it was!!

Magic pills!!

They work wonders. Give him about 2 at one time, every 30 minutes and then go up on them. They will not hurt him, they will make him sleepy.

They worked for my kid! They are at Wal-Mart (vitamin aisle) and also at Kroger. I bought 5 bottles so that I could have them with me all the time! 1 in the diaper bag, 1 in the car, 1 in my husband's car, one upstairs, 1 downstairs! Girl, I had people calling me for some, so they do work.

He hated orajel and that stuff from Central Market was to expensive and didn't really work, so I just stuck with the Teething tablets!

If he is continuing to run a low-grade fever, this might be something else. My son would be lethargic, run low-grade temp and have no appetite when he had an ear infection, so you might want to get that checked out too.

Good Luck!

Mine both did this -- any doctor will probably tell you that teething does not cause fevers...but ask ANY mom and they'll tell you differently. I'd just keep an eye on the fever to make sure it does stay low grade. If your little one is putting things in his mouth where the skin is broken b/c of teething he COULD potentially introduce a virus into his system which then COULD cause a fever.... but again, with no other symptoms.... and you don't suspect an ear infection... I'd say it was teething too. :( Good luck!

Low fever AND not sleeping at night are classic ear infection symptoms. I'd get it checked professionally.

If it's just teething, 3 of my kids really did well with Hyland's Teething tablets.

Good luck.

It definitely sounds like teething to me. Motrin helps A LOT better than tylenol and you can give it to him after 6 months of age. You also can rotate between tylenol and motrin every 3 hrs, for example give him motrin in the am and the next dose is in 3 hrs but give him tylenol and then 3 hrs later motrin. My doctor recommended me to do that when nothing helps for pain and fever and I also HIGHLY recommend hylands teething tablets that you can get them at walgreens, walmart and pretty much anywhere in the vitamin section.

My son think of the them as candy and he loves them. Orajel didn't work for my youngest.

Good Luck and I feel your pain, my youngest had a REALLY hard time teething from his top 2 to his molar but his top front teeth were the worse for him waking up every 45 min I thought I was going to lose my mind and just crying the whole time for 4-5 days straight and when they cut we were both so happy and relieved:)

Good Luck.
M.
