My mother (who, BTW, knows everything baby LOL) told me to put zip up jammies on them backwards.
So simple and it works.
My 2-year old has started pulling his diaper off when I put him down for his nap. A couple of times he has had accidents in the crib as a result. We just brought our newborn home 1 1/2 weeks ago, so I think this is to get attention. The pediatrican says to try and ignore it but it is SO FRUSTRATING. I remain calm, go in and put the diaper back on. He just keeps repeating it. I have tried ignoring it, yelling at him, bribing him, putting on pull-ups and putting on outfits that button at the crotch. So now I just get him up when he does this because it's not worth the battle. Anyone else deal with this before? Any suggestions to get past this and get him back on his nap schedule would be great! No naps also makes life more miserable for everyone too!
The backward diaper trick WORKED!!! He is sleeping as I type. THANK YOU ALL FOR SAVING THE DAY AND MY SANITY!!! :)

Is he tired of being in a wet diaper??? maybe it is time to start potty training.
The old-fashioned baby diaper pins (you know the ones, with the little duckie head). They worked great for us. We use then when an occasional tab pulls off as well, so we don't end up wasting a brand new diaper. Just pin it through the velcro tab...
We had a coupe of weeks where we wrapped the outside of my daughter's diaper in duct tape when she went to bed to keep the diaper on. That kept her from pulling it off then after a couple of weeks she gave up and we could stop.
puttting a onesie on backwards so they can't reach the snaps (they are in the back) works okay but not as well as tape.
I just wanted to add that your pediatricians advice is interesting. I guess he/she has never washed poo/pee out of sheets! I would definitely do something.
My daughter did the same thing at that age. We ended up putting her sleepers on backwards - the ones that zip & she couldn't get them off(you can cut the feet off if they are footed pajamas). She took naps and slept at night for about 2 months like that - after that we put her in regular 2 piece pajamas and never had a problem.
duck tape worked for me
Congratulations on your new little boy! Yes, it certainly does sound like attention.
My older son went through this when I was pregnant (that was fun!). Courtney's suggestion of the onesie on backwards was a good one and I was going to suggest the diaper on backwards too.
I would probably try the tape too.
I know how frustrating this can be.

This might seem rather simplistic but have you tried light weight footie pajamas? My 3 yr old and 14 mo old both wear them and I have never had this problem. Good luck.
You're definitely not alone. I had one that pulled off the diapers (backwards onesies work pretty well) and one that stuck his hand down his diaper in his sleep (so then pee went all over the bed - plus, yuck, his hand would be smelly and wrinkled from being wet. gross.) For the second one, I used zip footie pajamas, and in the summer (last summer) I cut the arms and legs off of the fleece zip footie pajamas - cut the arms at an angle and it's sort of jaunty, and the fleece won't fray.
That tape idea is great. And I agree that the peds must not clean up after a child in his/her home. Not advice I would take. LOL. Pediatricians often make suggestions about behavior things that are not practical. Great for medical advice... often not behavioral. :)
Anyway, I was just thinking if you put him in jeans or jean shorts (not the easy to pull down thin material elastic waste ones, but regular denim ones) for naps. My potty trained 3 year old has trouble getting those down by himself sometimes, though getting better with it recently, but may be challenging enough for your 2 year old.
That tape idea is great though. A pain for a little while, but trains the child not to bother with it anymore. :) Best wishes to you!!
