I hate trimming the kids nails. I did that once to my son and it got infected. The pediatrician seemed concerned and prescribed and antibiotic. I'm thinking because the infection could spread. Keep and eye on it and if it turns white, there's puss in there and it's probably infected. Call your doctor.
I don't think there is really anything to you can put on it for swelling, it will just have to go down on its own. If you think it's infected you may take him to the doctor.
If you think he is in pain, you can give him some Tylenol. If it is cut at all, you can put on neosporin if he isn't a thumb sucker. If it is inflamed as if infected, call the doctor. Otherwise, just kisses.
first of all use your teeth to cut your babies nail. my mm was told this in the hospital but if you must use clippers of any sort sterilize them first. that is the reason that your son now has an infected cut. I didn't realy mean to upset you I know you are probaly there already. this is best to do while he is napping and you can watch him so he can't get eat this. (by putting his fingers in his mouth. put a little bit of antiboitic cream on it and put a band-aid on it WHILE he is sleeping. any other time he may not et it stay there
Peroxide for sure will help with the swelling. Make sure to let it get air as much as possible if you do decided to ice wrap it. Good luck!
