Start hitting garage sales and flea markets, you'll find lots of stuff there...freecycle is great. So is craigslist.

Kimberley,

Forgive me for being blunt, but what on earth in going is on in your life where you need everything for free between now and October? Are you too young to work? Where is the father, what kind of family support do you have from your family and his? If you are alone and very young, have you considered what might be best for your unborn child and for you?

Please give us a bit more information.

Blessings....

You'll have to keep an eye out but these type of things are given away all the time on freecycle and craigslist. Craigslist.org Please, spend the money and get a good carseat. Carseats are improved every year and after so long expire. Many of the older ones are unsafe. If you really do not feel you can afford an new one, check the expiration date of the one you get. Make sure you get one with a few years left (the expire after 5).

I would not use a second hand carseat-u should never. We have a place here and I am sure most states do-for carseats if u do not have one. Mine got recalled and I took it there for the inspector to look at it and them deemed it unreplaceable and gave me one right there. Check it out. Hope that helps. L.:)

You can sign up for freecycle.org in your area. You can post a wanted request and if people in your area have it, they can let you know. I see requests for these types of things a lot.

A lot of times thrift stores may have these things very cheap.

check with your local pregancy center. The one around here has tons of stuff that they give to mothers in need. I would try to buy a new carseat though and make sure that the crib meets current safety standards and get a new mattress for it.
Not free but cheap- look at salvation army, goodwill and childrens resale shops like once upon a child for clothes, blankets, bottles, etc. Also you have plenty of time so check out clearance sales on baby items... walmart and target are probably clearancing winter stuff now- which you will need shortly after baby is born. Also shop garage sales- most baby stuff is still in good condition because they grow out of it soooooo fast- but people need to get rid of it for space reasons so are willing to let it go cheap.
Hope this helps :)

I am a grandmother raising grandchildren, I have 2 out of 6 living with me. October is a long time from now and I can understand what a big undertaking it is to think of everything you are going to need. We have had to get help once in a while, we are living on SSI and if something unexpected comes up sometimes we've had to ask. One place we've asked for help is Birth Choice. they promote helping moms to be to choose giving their children life and usually have resources for just about any needs you might have. They can also provide counseling and assistance in helping you in many other areas too.

Here is a link to Birth Choice/Life Call in Arkansas, I hope one of them is near you.
