Health Insurance Advice - Cigna Vs. Empire BCBS Vs. Anthem BCBS

My husband just changed jobs so we are changing health insurance. We have the option of Cigna, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield or Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (all PPOs). We had Empire and Anthem BCBS in the past and most recently had Aetna. All our doctors take all 3 of the plans and costs are comparable so I'm not sure which to choose. One of the doctor's offices said they like Cigna the best because they're the easiest to work with, however since I'm not familiar with them I would appreciate hearing people's experiences (positive or negative) with any of these three companies. Thanks!

I work in a doctor's billing office, none of them are easy to work with. :(

Have him ask his coworkers, that is really the only way to know. I am in St Louis, here all three of them are equal, actually Blue is a NY thing, my point is there is no difference here, there could be a difference there.

So I guess if you start getting answers you may want to ignore any of them that are out of state! I have a friend in NYC who had an issue with her insurance and my coworkers helped her. These women could work with insurance companies in their sleep, they had a hard time helping her. You step across state lines it may look the same, they may call it the same but I assure you it is a different animal you are looking at.

We have Cigna. I am the one who carries the family on insurance. We have a very rich policy so we are very lucky! This is our first year with Cigna and so far so good! =)

My mom works for BCBS and when I was growing up that's what we had - as an adult however I haven't used it so I do not know the ins and outs.
I currently have CIGNA and I love it. For example - I had c-sections for both pregnancies - the only thing I paid was my copay for the very first prenatal checkup. I have been told my a number of doctors offices "You have great insurance".

I do have to say - I live in IL and our 'parent' office is in CT so CT is the state our insurance is based upon.......
