Having Problems with Getting Pregnant

I know of a GREAT Dr. He helped me with getting pregnant and I now have twin boys. His name is Dr. William Gentry and his # is ###-###-#### and he is located on the North side. He is a really good Dr. and has great success rates!

Have you seen a doctor? Generally if you've been trying unsuccessfully for a year and you're under 35, doctors recommend that you both get tested. It's a LOT less expensive for the male to get tested first (compare maybe a couple hundred bucks to a couple thousand for you to get tested). Other than that, you could try charting your ovulation, use a tool like fertility friend. What have you tried (other than just having sex, heh).

I understand what is happening. With my latest son, who is now 2 months old, we were trying for two years as well. I was on the deop provera shot for 4 1/2 years and had plenty of problems getting pregnant. They ended up putting me on birth control pills for 1 cycle to get my period started again. well that didn't work. so they had me take a pill called provera for 10days and started me on the fertility drug clomid to get me ovulating. well neither of these worked either. so i had to go in for a shot of progesterone and oil. well that didn't work either. so i just gave up. i was sick of tryng and trying and nothing ever happening. well to my suprise, 2 years to the exact day of being off the shot i got pregnant. just have fun trying and practicing and when you least expect it, it will happen

i know this is kinda messy lol but the way my daughter was concieved is they say ur first three days of ur period are where you are the most fertile and my daughter was concieved on the second day of my period...sorry its kinda gross but i thought id share that with you

I agree with the first post. Just relax and enjoy your husband. If you are stressed about getting pregnant it is very possible that your body will not let you get pregnant. Also, have you spoken with your doctor or had testing to verify that there is not a problem with either you or your husband?

My best friend and her husband had been trying for a good bit of time with no results and on New Year's Eve with the help of a bit of alchohol they got pregnant. Don't misunderstand what I am saying, I am not promoting drinking, but for my friend it allowed her to finally not think about getting pregnant and when that stress was removed from the equation it happened...

That sound rather frusterating.. I'm having the opposite problem, I have a four year old and a ten month old and another on the way. My friend on the other hand had a simular problem, she and her husband tried for almost a year and finally got pregnant. she said it happend when she least expected it. this is what she did, she went on a night out with her husband, they got a motel room with a hot tub in it and had a few drinks. I think it was because she was relaxed and so was he. try something similar and enjoy yourselves. what could it hurt, it might bring you two closer.

I have to agree with the ones that say relax.... I have heard that trying to hard can cause your body to not get pregnant because of the stress.... Good Luck to you. It'll come when it's meant to be. Just relax and enjoy this time.

Me and my finace tried for almost 3 years using many differnt and unsucessful methods. I spoke top many drs and no one had answers that worked for me. I finally asked a cna friend of mine that is from the UK and she told me about checking your cervical mucous. How it works

After your period you will have a time where you are very wet, But other then that the discahrge is unchanged.

About a weeks or so later check your mucous daily and it will become clear and stretch between 2 fingers (looks like snot)

THat is the GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY!!!! DO NOT MISS IT!!!

You will know if you have concieved fairly quick the strechyness stops in a few days if it ends altogether you more then likely have concieved.

If this does not happen what does happen is you missed your window and it will ball up and get dry. Thenif you get a period you will start and start the cycle over again. I am not regular at all. I have a cycle maybe once every 9 months-1yr. The second time we did this method i know what to look for and we conceived without any problems in fact she is due dec 4th :) So i wish you luck and ask your dr about additonal methods but this worked for me with NO DRUGS!!

I am in pretty much in the same boat!!! I got the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" and I read it in 4 days!!! It is a really easy book to understand and many times I've said "I've felt that!!!". I was told to follow the book to the "T" so we'll see what happends.

I have irregular periods. I get them maybe every 6 months. I've also been to doctors and specialist who have told me and my husband that we are completely healthy and able to get pregnant. So, if you and your hubby have been checked, get the book and follow it!!! Dont stress about it and good luck to both of us!!!

Have you tried the clearblue easy fertility monitor? With my first we got pregnant the first month we used it (after trying for several months without success) and with the second I was pregnant the 3rd month. It is not cheap, but you can get it secondhand on ebay and resell it when you don't need it anymore. I bought and sold the monitor for the same price so all it cost me was the sticks.

I am assuming you have both actually been in and checked out? Did the doctor not have any ideas?

If your cycles are normal, I would think you are ovulating *normal*
Have you read taking charge of your fertility? That is a great book!

You could always try ovulex too! I did and got pregnant the first month with using it.

Sometimes you try to hard and your body blocks you from getng pg. Just relax! There are also vitamins at the vitamin store called fertillity. I don't know much about them though. Just "give up". It will happen when it is meant to be. Good Luck!

I am actually not posting in response to the initial question, but to the responses. I have irregular periods myself and my husband and i have been trying for another since my five year old was a year and a half, thinking, he would be 2 by the time we actually had the baby. My step children are so much older than my son, i wanted him to have a sibling closer in age. That didn't seem to work out. And I have spent so many nights of the last four years crying myself to sleep, wondering if i was the only one with these problems. I am crying as I type, but this time not the same type of tears, but after reading all the posts, more like a there actually might be hope type of crying. I had infertility issues throughout my 20's. My OB/GYN is Dr. Polaschek at the Trinity Medical Center in Moline. She's wonderful. She will bend over backwards to get you tested, start treatments and refer you to the Iowa City clinic for evaluation. I ended up getting pregnant at 32 all on my own. I thought I was infertile, but it just happened. Not sure about your age, but the sooner the better for starting treatment.

My husband and I went through a similar situation. I went off birth control three months before we got married (Mar. 2002) and didn't get pregnant until Jan. 2005. Both of us were physically fine also. We finally stopped obsessing over the fact of trying to get pregnant each month. I use to tell my hubby the day we had to "shoot" for. I finally realized that was putting too much pressure on him, so that next month I made sure that we had sex around the right time of the month and it worked. We now have a great little boy.

I hope that the problem is something simple like this and remember that good things happen when you least expect it.

My husband and I tried for 2 years as well. We used the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weichler. It is a wonderful and SUCCESSFUL book. We were pregnant the first time trying in less than 3 months. However, we miscarried and it was a molar pregnancy. Then we tried again after blood tests for 6+ months. We were pregnant the very first month, unfortunately, I miscarried that one too. At that point, my OB found out my body didn't produce enough progesterone to sustain a pregnancy. She put me on Chlomid (low dose), progesterone, and estrogen. She said if she prescribes one, she prescribes them all b/c it has been so successful. We were pregnant 4 mo. later. But, this was also by following the plan in the book. You take your morning temps and check cervical fluid/position. I know a lot of people who followed the plan after trying several years without success. Once they did what the book said, they were pregnant within months. Try reading and following the book first, then go from there for other help.
