My doctor stripped my membranes 2 days ago and about an hour afterwards I started having good contractions. I waited until yesterday to go to the hospital until they got stronger and more consistent. They told me to walk for a couple of hours since my contractions were close together. I was originally 1/2 centimeter 50% effaced and station 0 .. when they checked me later I was almost 2 centimeter and 80% effaced. So I had some process but not enough so they sent me home :( I am still having contractions today and lost my mucus plug around noon today. My contractions seems to be just as strong maybe a little stronger than yesterday. Do you think I am going to have my baby in a couple of days? How long after you lost your plug did you deliver your baby? Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Congratulations S.!

I had my babies within days after losing my mucus plug. One time within 24 hours. I think you are well on your way!

I lost my plug hours before I felt any contractions. Once the contractions came that I could feel, it was about 36 hrs of labor for me. My son's my only child. My Mom was 36 hrs with me, and I was her first. Sometimes daughters firsts follow their own mothers firsts, but not always.

You can lose your mucus plug and still have at least a week (sometimes 2) to go. BUT considering that your contractions are getting a bit stronger, chances are the baby will be coming within the next day or so! If you're able to, keep walking, staying active, drink lots of water and eat lots of fiber! Good luck!!

Hopefully by the time you've read this message, you'll be holding your new baby.

My labors were completely different with both kids, but I did lose my mucus plug with my first, and labor started the next day, my son was born the following day.

BEST WISHES!

mucus plug doesn't mean much... but contractions do!!! when they start feeling really low and strong and you can't talk through them then it's real! good luck, you can do it!
