But, I just have to ask! I need advice. I don't know who to go see, what kind of doctor, etc.

**SORRY, TMI*******
The past 4 months or so, my bowels have been an issue. They have been basically controlling me. Diahrrea, loose, and it's all in the morning. It's to the point where i'll get in the car in the morning to take th kids to daycare and after 5 mintues I'll start to get shaky, dizzy, nauseas, and have the need to go. At first I thought I just kept thinking I was getting a virus or flu. Then I thought it had to do with my blood sugar, but it's not. I've been slightly/barely anemic during pregnancies, but I have iron in my diet almost everyday.

I am afraid to leave my house. I never had issues like this before, so I guess it came with age. When noon time comes, i'm almost totally fine though. I can't figure this out. I don't know who to go see. I am in the Main Line area, if anyone can let me know a good doctor or maybe give me some advice. This is so embarrassing to talk about.

Please, can anyone help?

What can I do next?

Sounds like a GI problem. Which means you need to find a Gastroenterologist or possibly an Endocrinologist for the shaking. I was diagnosed w/ hyperthyroidism last year and now with medication, I'm fine. One of the warning sides was your main topic. Good luck. O, drink lots of water in the meantime.

Hi A.,

I suggest seeing your family doctor/internist. You could have an infection like giardia which could be treated. Good luck and hope you feel better.

This is more common than you may think. It could be stress related, or it could be a food sensitivity of some kind, or even a combination of both. If you can think back that far (which can prove difficult for anyone who's missing sleep or experiencing stress, like we mammas so often are) consider whether you've added anything new to your diet, or if you've increased the amt of some food or drink (cappuccino anyone?) you ate less of before.

If this proves difficult, you can keep a small notebook on hand, and just jot down what you eat through the day, and see if you can discern any pattern there, btwn foods you've eaten and flair ups of the condition.

And lastly, consider talking to your family doctor or general practitioner to ask about Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It's worth asking, and the doctor won't even flinch, I promise. (I have it myself) He or she will be able to direct you to a specialist, or tell you which tests you may need. Best of luck, I know this can make life a bit more difficult, and I'm sure you don't need it right now. Feel better soon!

Have you been on antibiotics recently? Sometimes they can cause bowel problems. You could be lactose intolerant- also causes alot of issues! Try lactaid before you eat dairy. Lastly, itr could be irritable bowel, caused by stress, food, gas, etc.!! If you are sure it is not a virus or the reaction to an antibiotic, you can take Immodium AD (over the counter medicine). which will help control the problem. Acidophilous ( found in most yogurts, but can be bought as a supplement-make sure it is the refrigerated kind!!) is great to regulate the bowel, and can be taken daily to keep the good bacteria in your intestines. Good Luck and feel better!

Dear A.,

I do not have your condition but my husband has had IBS for years and developed it later in his life and my good friend has colitus; which both effect both of them with loose bowels between 5am - 10am and then fine for the rest of the day.

I recommend you go to a gastroentorlogist to be checked for these conditions or a parasite.

Good luck! It is definitely no fun for you.

Fondly,
ann m.

You might want to look into the possibility of Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance. Does your breakfast include wheat? Many doctors do not seem to know much about it although it affects 1 in 133 people in the population. You may want to read up on it and see if the symptoms seem to fit you before you see your doctor. It is usually diagnosed through a blood test and endoscopy. The good news is that it is curable through diet change.
