Have You Ever Waisted So Much Time on This Site You've Considered Canceling ....

....your account?
Just curious. I just officially requested a cancellation. Will miss you all. but my pregnancy nausea makes sitting here at my computer one of the only things I do. Wish I had the will power to get off the computer, but I'm going to admit addiction and take decisive action. My house needs me, my kids need me. Thanks ladies, you've been a wonderful connection to human life outside of my little world as a SAHM. And apologies to anyone I've ever been snarky with which is rare but has happened.
(I've been on here over 4 years)

So What Happened?

nicole p wish I could do it like you do. I've tried taking breaks and can go a few days max. Its something in my life that is out of balance. This is how I'm going to fix it.

I can ask ANYTHING here. I can ask things I would never ask in real life. I take breaks and sometimes feel like I am spending too much time, but I learn so much about others here.

I only WISH there was a Mamapedia when I was a first time mom - always frazzled and sleep deprived. Sharing what you know with others, knowing you make a difference, is not a bad thing. Neither is being connected to the rest of the world. You will be missed.

I take months off, then come back for a few weeks, then stay away for a few months. It goes in waves. I wouldn't cancel my account though. I'd just not visit this site until I was ready again because when you do feel ready to come back, you'll have to go through the hassle of recreating your account. It's good to have the account available just in case you have a question you need help with.

Personally, I don't have a group of girlfriends to talk to about a lot of this mom stuff with. You guys are it.

I know I spend a lot of time here, but I don't consider it wasted. I learn a lot.
I'm with some of the others - you're stuck with me. I work in an office where it's just me and the boss and he's not here a lot so this keeps me from feeling lonely.

Good luck to you and your family in all that you do!

Hi jane-

No...never considered it for me...

I take 'breaks' now and again, and do not answer as many questions as I did a few years ago...but once in a while...there IS a question that I feel I am compelled to answer.

I use mamapedia as my 'break' as I attend to other things.

I wish you the best!

We ALL have to do what is right for our families!

best luck!

Yup, MzKitty is right- after all these years your all stuck with me too. Don't get me wrong, at this very moment dishes are waiting to be done and I'm sure there's a stack of papers to sort somewhere. For sanity, camaraderie and comfort I think I deserve 15-20 minutes once and a while!
Best of luck Jane- if you find you miss it too much, come back, but maybe bring a timer with you to help limit yourself. :) wink wink!

Ummmmm daily.. HAHAHA
Yes MP has sucked me into its little world and now I am addicted. It is beyond my control.

I completely understand the out of balance comment. I think so too, with me not you :o).
I find myself getting on and getting frustrated when I refresh and nothing new comes up.
Take care of yourself and have a good pregnancy. My husband actually bought me some antinausea medication at one point. But it didnt work. I kept crackers in the bedroom and ate a couple before I got out of bed.

Wish you well!
I understand your need. I sometimes think "If I hadn't spent that extra 20 minutes on MP, I could've gotten __ accomplished". But I won't beat myself up over it because sometimes, I just need a break.
Especially after moving, I feel a bit like Nichole P----I miss having a circle of female friends to talk with about "whatever" so this helps me out. I also like being able to ask whatever. But I also respect the fact that you recognize if there's a problem or something out of balance, and care enough to make whatever change is necessary.
