I had my tubes tied in Sep. 2007 and have not had any issues, but this month I had no "real" period. I only had very light spotting, and I am pretty sure I can't be pregnant since I had the surgery. I'm just curious to see if anyone might know what would cause that.
I have never had my tubes tied, but I do know that it is not 100% effective birth control, so please do not ignore any pregnancy symptoms if you get them--you definitely can become pregnant. On the other hand, ligher periods are not unheard of for any reason. :)

tubal ligation affects woman differently.
If you do a Google search on it "side effects of getting your tubes tied" you will find a lot of info.
One of my best friends had her tubal done in Sept 2009, and last week she went into the ER with abdominal pain, during an ultrasound, they found 3 fertilized eggs in her fallopian tubes. The tubes grown back together in 10 short months, and had this triple ectopic pregnancy. It could have killed her. Her doctor told her it was 1 in a million that this could happen. During the surgery to remove the ectopic eggs, they removed her tubes completely, so that it could never happen again.

Sorry I'm late getting in on this. As you know, you can still get pregnant after a tubal ligation. I always thougth it was a rare thing, but I know three people who have wound up pregnant & had successful pregnancies after having a tubal ligation. One friend had even told me & I quote, " Mine are clipped & burnt so there's no way I'm having another child ." After her second. 6 years later, a healthy baby boy. It scares the heck out of me as I had mine tied after my second in 2000. I do know my periods have went up & down, even at times going from being a 7 day person to being only 2 days..hallelujah! One time mine was light wnough I took a pregnancy test, it was negative. Late advice, but don't panic, but I would get at least take a home pregnancy test, although they don't necessarily detect ectopic pregnancies.

You might want to take a pregnancy test to be sure. One of my friends had her tubes tied after their 3rd child and a year later found out she was pregnant for the 4th time and had a perfectly healthy little girl.

My periods got very short and light after I had my tubes tied. It was a great "side effect".
However, you CAN get pregnant after a tubal ligation, and if you are, it can become very dangerous very fast. See your doctor about your concerns, please.

I seen on the show "I didnt know I was pregnant" a women with her tubes tied that got pregnant. It is rare but still possible. I didnt think I was possible myself. But like I said its rare. It could be a number of things I sometime wouldnt get my period if it was too hot or if I exercised alittle bit more. So it could be a number of reasons. I am sure the websit one mom gave you should be helpful. Good luck

Definitely get checked for pregnancy. I had a good friend who had a tubal pregnancy because of a tube coming untied or something. It was pretty rough emotionally because even though she hadn't wanted more children she got all excited and then it didn't work out. Tubal pregnancy's can be dangerous so you want to catch them early.
