Our 2 year old just had new tubes put in and had his adenoids taken out today. He seems absolutely fine, a bit tired from the anesthesia, but he doesn't seem like he is in pain or anything.
My 3 1/2 year old is getting tubes put back in her ears for the second time and getting her adenoids taken out. The doctor said just having the adenoids removed is not as bad as a recovery as having the tonsils taken out. Have you (or your child) just had their adenoids taken out, and if so, what was the recovery like? Thanks!

My son had tubes and adenoids taken out when he was 8 months old. He was back to normal the next day.
I will tell you this though when your daughter is in recovery the anesthesia makes them cry alot. A cry that I never heard from him before. They said it was the effects of the anesthesia. Just broke my heart.
Good luck to you and your daughter !
My son had his aednoids removed in December right after he was three. It was not a bad recovery at all. All kids are different, but mostly it was just hard the first hour while he got his bearings, after that maybe a scratchy throat, but usually it's pretty easy.
My son had the same things done when he was about 3--he is almost 4 now. The recovery was great! He was groggy and grouchy waking up but after that he was fine. She will have bad breath for a while. We gave my son some Popsicles after we got home but the recovery wasn't bad. Day 1 was off and on grumpiness (to be expected) day 2 he was back to normal.

I did when I was about 9 or so, but the procedure is better now. I remember being very sore and bleeding.. .but I also had 8 teeth removed so the pain and recovery was mostly from the teeth.
My seven-year-old had her tonsils and adenoids out and tubes in at age 3. The recovery was just fine, she didn't have much pain at all. At age 5, some of her adenoids had grown back and she had to have tubes in for a 2nd time. The recovery was not much different, in fact she said that her throat hurt for a while after.
My four-year-old just had her tonsils/adenoids out last week and tubes put in, and her recovery was a breeze. Tired, and emotional from the narcotic pain meds, but other than that, it was easy.
My son had his tonsils and adenoids out when he was 3 1/2 (he's 7 1/2 now). He had severe sleep apnea. The adenoid recovery was a piece of cake, it was the tonsil recovery that was painful. Very sore throat and he didn't want to eat or drink. He (and I) stayed overnight in the hospital and they wouldn't let him go home until he drank a certain amount. They wanted to make sure he would continue to drink so he didn't end up back in the hospital dehydrated.
I have heard of adenoids growing back, so I guess time will tell. Good luck with your little one!
