I want to do it this year and want to see if other moms have done it before. It looks fun and there are 2 events near me I could choose from. The first is in June and the second in September.
If you did it how was your experience? Would you do it again?

What can I do next?

I haven't participated, but I've gone to cheer on friends, and you're right, it does look like fun!! The friends that do it, do it every year; they say once you do it, you're going to want to do it again!! I don't have the time to train, but once my kiddos are older, I want to do it for sure. Good luck and have fun! Let us know how it goes!!

I did it last year with some friends in MA. IT WAS A BLAST!!!!!!! We are doing the one at Gunstock in Sept and I can't wait to do it again. I didn't train for it and I am not in the best of shape. A few months before I started the program "Couch to 5K" to get ready for the race. I ended up finding out I am not a runner but I love to walk. I was walking 5 miles 4 times a week by race day. The downside to last year was that it rained every day up to the day of the race and it was even misting when we got there, this made the track ALL mud. You expect it to be muddy cause that is part of the fun, but the problem was that we couldn't really run cause you were ankle deep in the mud and our sneakers were sliding. One guy running (slipping/sliding) down the hill behind me said this is like a slippery track straight down into hell. People on that part of the race were grabbing trees and each other to keep from falling. :) My friend had those toe shoes. The sneakers that look like feet and she had a much easier time running cause her toes could grip the mud and the material on the bottom of those shoes were more grippy so she was running with ease while the rest of us slid. All in all though the obstacles were all doable and awesome and the overall race was a blast!!! For this years race I am getting those toe shoes and my friends and I are going to wear leg warmers to protect our shins. (we are planning to put together crazy outfits that match) I came home with my shins all ripped up from going across this rope obstacle and because it was so slippery you had to crawl across the wet rope and I did this kind of drag thing with my legs. Anyway I totally recommend it. We had a great time and got muddy and it was such an awesome feeling crossing that finish line!!

I did this with somegirlfriends last year and we had a blast. It is not too difficult, but trying to get a little training in couldn't hurt. For us, it was a motivator to start running some, but agree that if you have "reasonable strength" you can do this. Have fun!!

I did it last year and will probably do it again this year. It was a lot of fun. If you can walk 3 miles and have reasonable strength (ie lift kids) you can do this, you don't really need to train unless you are doing it for time.

ETA - last year I did it with 2 reconstructed ACLs; this year I'm adding a rehabbed broken shoulder (I'm kind of a klutz on the soccer field).
