Does anyone have any recommendations for a hardwood floor installer? We are considering putting hardwood floors in our home and I am looking for references/recommendations so I can begin to get quotes. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a GREAT installer I have worked with for a long time who has 30 years experience, is insured, etc--please call me at ###-###-#### and we can discuss it. Johnson Custom Flooring did an awesome job on our floors! We got hand scraped wood floors with a custom finish for less than any of the pre-fab stuff we looked at. Curtis is who we worked with and he was professional and courteous. I highly recommend these guys!

Yes and no. Yes I have an installer, but I also have a flooring recommendation. Dalton Flooring in Garland did an exquisite job on our floors (we're in Denton)

We refloored our house when we bought it, and were considering hardwoods after a whole-house flood destroyed the laminate and TILE we had painstakingly laid ourselves. However when we learned that hardwoods would have almost definitely been just as destroyed, we quickly decided that we wanted a disaster-proof flooring that looked awesome but was easy on our kids and tough on our pets. We wanted this to be the LAST time we had to gut the entire house.

We went with a brand called Karndean, and their Da Vinci line of vinyl floor planks (we choose Spanish Cedar). It looks and feels like wood but is (seriously) indestructible. My husband is from the pacific northwest and has refinished many old homes with original wood, and he THOUGHT it was wood! Since installed, we have had a fire in 3 rooms that didn't enough scuff the floor! It is water-proof, we have it in our kitchen and baths, which really unifies the house and opens it up. It looks more and more beautiful with more and more use. It is soft enough that our toddler can fall with no worries, and when we drop glasses, half the time they don't break.
You can go here: http://www.karndeanusa.com/site/floorstyle.cfm and download a very quick and easy template to try different colors and styles to see how they would look, too.
I will NEVER have another floor in any home I ever have, again. Cheers and Good Luck!
