Good morning Mamapedia!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
As I was making my Waldorf salad before we head off to our friend's house - I wondered - Miracle Whip (which I was raised on) or Mayonnaise...
I switched to Mayonnaise when I went to my brother in law's family deli when I was 11 years old...it was like heaven on earth...and I used my allowance to buy Mayonnaise from that point on...as my mom did NOT like Mayonnaise!! LOL!!
So which is it? Mayonnaise or Miracle whip!!
Hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!!
After tallying the votes - it seems Mayonnaise has "won"! LOL!!
23 for Mayo
4 for MW
6 for both
1 for none
I think my numbers are right! Thank God this isn't a Gallop Poll!! Thanks Ladies! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I'm a Mayonnaise and my husband's a Miracle Whip. We muddle along despite this huge marital rift. :-D
Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!
My go to is mayo and is must be Hellman's. NO other brand will do.
Occasionally I might use a tad of Miracle Whip on a sandwich to change things up but overall... hands down Hellmans.
BTW... I use a dollop of Hellmans in my mashed potatoes and everyone loves them!
That's easy: mayo.
Happy turkey day!
When I was a kid it was miracle whip, mayo was way too much for me. As an adult it's mayo all the way. Guess I was probably in my late 20's when I realized how much better it is and that miracle whip is too sweet and false tasting.
My mom always used mayonnaise and of course I hated it as a kid. She made it too from time to time.
We have a divided house. We have to keep both hellmans and miracle whip AND Pepsi and coke in our house.
But we do agree that turkey sandwiches are one if the best parts of thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
I like both. I like Miracle Whip on a turkey sandwich or in my spinach dip. I like mayo in my potato salad and to dip my French fries. To me they are very different products and not to be used interchangeably. I was raised on my mothers homemade mayo and homemade salad dressing (like Miracle Whip).
Happy day after Thanksgiving, which is when you will see this.
Mom liked MW. Grew up with it. Personally, though, I prefer mayo. It's also fun to make your own and tweak it to how you like it to taste or add a flavor for special sandwiches or dips. :)
Happy turkey day
I'm with you; grew up on MW but discovered mayo, nuff said
Mayonnaise all the way, and preferably homemade. The grocery store excuse for mayo is pathetic. And Miracle Whip? What were they trying to accomplish with that? A dessert on bread? Yuck.
Mayo!! .....and only a tiny bit on anything (sandwiches, tuna etc.).
Not only is my preference mayo, it's gotta be Best Foods (Hellman's)! My mom always said "I don't care how broke we are, I will only use real butter and Best Foods mayo". I've adopted that same theory.
I feel as though I bonded with you today! We were also raised on Miracle Whip! and then I fell in love With my husband that is who loves mayonaise on everything! And so a mayo lover was born. But every now and then, when it's at the store a little cheaper I grab some and load a liversausage sandwich with it. AHH can we just have both?
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, hope you had a wonderful day!
I'm in the mayonnaise camp. Miracle Whip, IMO, is too sweet and borders on bizarre non-food, like margarine and Crisco.
I buy Mayo but have had MW in the past and liked it on sandwiches.
Another house divided here - I'm for the Whip, hubby's for mayo. Happy Thanksgiving!
Mayo. Grew up eating mayo. Never thought to/felt the need to try Miracle Whip. I don't even know what Miracle Whip tastes like...
I am not a big mayo/miracle whip person. But if I do use it, it has to be mayo. I am not into sweet foods, except for dessert.
I really do not even care for ketchup, unless I can add A-1 to it.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Mayo here. We got MW because it was on sale one day and I used it in spinach dip - never again. I hate mayo period, but it does go in some things and is needed....but never again will I use MW.
The tangy zip of Miracle Whip is just not one of my favorite flavors.
I prefer Helmans Real Mayo - the regular stuff.
Not the no-fat or low fat stuff - I've tried those and they taste like paste to me.
Neither, I can't stand them. LOL
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
eewww....Miracle Whip is too sweet for me.
Tyler does not care. Guess that's what happens when you eat MREs.
It's mayo for me.
Happy Thanksgiving! Safe travels! I go with mayo for most everything, but occasionally I like to have tuna fish with miracle whip.
Mayo!! Can't stand the MW
I prefer Miracle Whip.
My family prefers mayonnaise.
So whoever cooks the dish gets to pick. It works out great for me, because I don't dislike mayo.
Full fat real mayo only. Miracle Whip is VILE and not fit for human consumption.
I like different flavors on different things. For deviled eggs and tuna salad I like Miracle Whip but on sandwiches I only like Mayo, and only name brand Mayo. Imitation stuff is nasty.
Happy Thanksgiving! My grandma always used mayo so I vote mayo.
Hellmann's/Best Food's MAYO.
Miracle Whip is disgusting. In this area when you ask for mayo, people will often hand you a jar of Miracle Whip. GAH! THAT IS NOT MAYO! BACK, YOU HEATHEN!
My family always had Miracle Whip when I was growing up and I hated it. Left home and tasted real Mayonnaise, wow, I loved it. Never had Miracle Whip in my house, it's the real stuff always.
Hellman's mayo. The only acceptable substitute is real homemade mayo. My mom accidentally bought MW once when we were kids. We threw it away. I don't remember us EVER throwing food away. MW is not food.
I like miracle whip.
