I pat myself on the back every time I DONT burn the roast, or can fit into my 16 jeans.
I went shopping with my girls tonight. It was more of a "let's have fun, hang out and be goofy" kind of time. Much needed and appreciated by all. So, my 14 and 10 year old girls wear pretty much the same size. They are your typical regular sized girls(10 yr. old is taller than most, though) and we actually found some "skinny" jeans for the older one. YAY! (she's hard to shop for.. ugh). They are a little big and def. too long for the 10 yr. old, but pretty much just right for my 14 yr. old. Well, we got home and for fun, I attempted to try the jeans on... ...... THEY FIT! I mean.. really fit... a little loose around the waist but perfect in every other way!!! wow... really? My family has been saying I'm losing weight, but since we don't use a scale, it's hard to say. I cannot believe I fit into my daughter's size 10 slim "skinny jeans" (which really only means they fit around the calf and ankle a bit more than other jeans but sounds nice).
So... Have any of you had any "pat yourself on the back" moments as of late? :) Oh, also, my hubby says I made the best pot roast tonight that he has ever had, and he's had a lot of them in his day! hahaha. gotta love when the family loves what you cook, right?!
Chuckle... it's just been one of theose rare great days for the ego!
to Birdsfreakmeout - My hat's off to you!!! :) Consider yourself patted on the back from me!!

I patted myself on the back this weekend. Many of you have given me very harsh feedback on my responses or questions. Today, I felt very left out of the clique at a weekend conference. The colleague who discovered this free conference through me, really ignored me and worked the room. On the ride back in the taxi, the first 30 minutes we have a silent standoff. I took a breath and began friendly conversation. When we got to our city 1.5 hours later all was peaceful. Because of the advice you all have given to me about not owning our friends, I was able to not let my misbehavior alienate me from this woman. A pat on the back to me and to you.
When I wake up the boys before the bus and we are not rush rush rush. When I make them breakfast and pack them lunches. I know, it's silly. But they are old enough to get themselves up, fed, and out the door without their mama.
When I actually have a good dinner made. Most nights we are out at soccer and by the time we get home we are just throwing something together so no one is starving.
When I get my big butt to the gym and eat right. Which is SO hard for me right now.
When all of the laundry is washed AND put away.
Recently? Just the fact that I make it through my busy day deserves a pat!
Good for you! Congratulations ! ! !
Good luck to you and yours.
That my son has said please & thank you consistently since he was 2.
That I can get dinner on the table with my busy day.
That I went down 2 sizes in pants by jog/walking.
I have one semester left before I have my Bachelors - I take massive workloads on because I wanted to do a 4 year program in 2 and a half. This semester I took 19 units which was 5 classes. I have 2 kids.. My son plays football, soccer(which my husband and I coach), drums, and karate.. My daughter stays home with me but we do gymnastics 2x a week and dance, the library every T&TH, and 1 playdate a week. My Hubby works crazy hours that switch every 4 weeks and have him home only 3hrs a day. Which means I do most of the activities on my own. I got my Midterm grades last night and have straight A's. Also my GPA for the last 2 years has been a 3.9
I did a little happy dance when I got my grades, I did life a little backwards - got married - had babies - and decided that when my DD was ready for Kinder that would be the time I would want to start working, so when I can keep up with my family and school those are the moments I want to "pat myself on the back" :)
Yesterday while teaching pre-K hip hop dance classes, the little boy who is always goofing off and not paying attention astonished me with being able to remember a step that I taught 3 weeks ago and do it perfectly. Made me so proud of him and myself! The fact that he, being 3 years old, remembered it when I thought all he did was just tolerate being in class, and proud of myself for realizing I am a good teacher!
