Hanging Decorations on Stucco

Hello Ladies,
Earlier this year we moved into our condo, we are renting it from the owner so we are dealing with HOA rules and the owner rules- not a big deal, everything is great so far. I have recently bought some halloween decorations for our front porch area (we have two staircases in a V position leading up to our front door and a small landing in front of the door, kind of like a front patio) so I wanted to decorate for halloween. Since I'm moving from a house, which we always decorated the front yard, I would like to still decorate here. So back to the question, the walls by our front door are stucco on one and a window on the other. I bought a platick glow in the dark skeleton to hang on the wall of stucco but it is against the rules to put wholes in the stucco, so using a nail to hang my skeleton is not allowed. He's about 4 1/2 feet tall, and plastic so he doesn't weigh much. How else can I secure him to stucco so I can hang him up. Unfortunately we have extremely high ceilings so using something on the eves (spelling) is not an option. I'm using velcro to put the tomb stones on the metal railings of the landing (having the velcro wrap around the railing so it doesn't actually stick to the railing, it's all stuck to the tomb stone, and just tape to put up the garland around the window but this skeleton has given me some pause. How else can I stick it to stucco? Thank you ladies!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So my boyfriend liked the gallow idea out of pvc pipe- he loves pvc pipe lol, but then he wanted to cover it with foam and paint it to look like wood and it turned into this big elaborate project so I told him not this year but feel free for next year honey lol =). We couldn't figure out a way to get it on the stucco that would stick in the winds, not take off paint chips and not put a whole in it but we did find a place for him. We have a metal railing around the stairs and front porch area that we velcroed styrofoam tombstones to and then we took mr skeleton and placed him in between the metal rungs and the tombstones, so he is lounging between the tombstones. It looks really cute! I was very excited. Thank you ladies for all of the suggestions! Have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

You might try rubber cement, if it isn't too awful windy where you are. Several dabs in different places?

We decorate the front of our house as well which is all stucco, and the only thing that has worked for us is Gorilla Tape--it's amazing and will stick to anything. You can find it at any home improvement/hardware store. Good luck!

I know some people use a hot glue gun to hang Christmas lights on brick. Could you try the glue in an inconspicuous spot to make sure it comes off the stucco?

Does it have to go on the stucco?

If you could hang it on the window, there are hooks that have suction cups to attach them to a smooth, flat surface.

Check Target, or craft, hardware, or office supply stores.

My husband's go-to suggestion is duct tape :-D
Or, if you have room - build a scaffold out of PVC pipe - don't forget the noose around your skeleton's neck.

Have a fun Halloween!

Hang those 3M adhesive suction cup hooks on the window instead of the stucco. I grew up in a stucco house and hardly anything will stick to it, especially since it's not a flush surface.

This has frustrated me for years but last Christmas I found a solution that worked and held up during wind storms. Vine holders from the hardware store or garden center. They are little plastic squares with a part that sticks out. The package comes with twist ties and adhesive. You put a decent amount of adhesive on the clear square and press like heck on the stucco. The glue dries quickly enough to get in the all the grooves and uneven parts of stucco. Let it dry for 24 hours before hanging on it. I hung heavy garland with these and wire around a giant arch near my front door. When I put up my halloween decorations a couple weeks ago I did notice a couple were gone, but easy enough to replace. They can discolor the stucco a bit but I have found it is not noticeable on my house unless you know where to look. Good luck!

I like the ideas below but just want to add something I advise NOT to use. The 3M hooks. I had one hanging in my living room and when I went to take it down, it had pulled many layers of paint off and now have a big gouge mark on my wall. Would hate to see that happen to the stucco, could be an expensive fix.

If you have any dirt out front, you could hang it from a shepherd's hook. OR, maybe get one of those suction cup hooks for the window that people use to hang wreaths.

I thought I was clear, maybe not.... suction cup the skeleton TO THE WINDOW, not the wall. :) Use a suction cup. (They won't stick on stucco anyway, lol).
