Hand Sanitizer and Eczema

Hi! I'm just wondering if anyone with eczema has found a hand sanitizer that doesn't irritate/aggravate their eczema. Mine is only on my hand and seems to worsen when I use scented products, so I try to go fragrance free whenever possible. I don't use hand sanitizer often, but when I do, it does irritate my hand. So...any suggestions are welcome!

What can I do next?

I use the kind with aloe, that's the ONLY kind that doesn't burn like hellfire!

Try looking it up on this:
http://www.nationaleczema.org/

It is the National Eczema Organization.

There are also KID type hand santizers, that do not have alcohol in it.
Try Google search that.
Also, if you look on Amazon, they have all types of "kids" hand santizers. It is less harsh and/or natural.

I think, not for sure, but the foam sanitizer from bath and body seems to do okay with paper cuts on the hands and won't sting. Maybe that will be good.

Sorry, not much help here. All sanitizers burn my hands and sores from eczema. I just make sure to wash them well and used Cetaphil soap when I can since it's less irritating. To be honest, we don't use hand sanitizers here really at all since reading that they aren't really good for you. If you can avoid them, I would. Just wash really well with soap. :) Good luck. I have, by the way, found a great cream for eczema. I find it at Walgreen's and it's called Triderma. They have an eczema formula that does help.

Good luck!

Check out Gold Bond. A friend of mine had a hand sanitizer lotion made from Gold Bond. Funny, cause I just saw it at her house yesterday and used some and it seemed to not dry them out as bad. I too avoid sanitizers when I can because they irritate my eczema horribly. I am thinking about buying some of that to try it further. Maybe something for you to try also. I think it is fairly new cause I had never seen it before.

My daughter has eczema and gets it mostly on her hands. We try to usually wash with soap and water, but that is not always possible, so we use Clean Well. It doesn't bother her at all. Definitely stay away from ones with alcohol.

The active ingredient (the one that makes it work) in most hand sanitizers is rubbing alcohol. It's very effective in killing germs, but harsh, especially on eczema.
I know there are a couple out there that are alcohol free. Read the labels and give some of those a try?
