The birmingham zoo is awesome. They have a thing called Boo and the Zoo and the tickets aren't expensive. It runs for several nights and it's really a lot of fun for parent and child =D Check it out....you can look on the zoo's website and find out more info. By the way----you should by tickets ahead of time...you don't wanna have to stand in line the night you go! Maybe we'll see you there
There is a "Light the Night" carnival at the Brunos at the corner of Valleydale and 280. It is sponsered by the Inverness Vineyard Church and Brunos. They have free activities for kids of all ages and free food.

and several other area churches are doing similar activities. Publix also has a costume contest and "trick-or-treating" which worked out great when our child was 2/3...it was just enough excitement.... and really large cookies.
