I have 2 yo twins and they need hair cuts. They've already had one at the place in Lakeside mall where you sit on a toy and watch tv as they are cutting, but it was pretty uneven. Any other ideas where to take 2 yo girls for haircuts??

The Carnival Cuts in Lakeside mall closed (I tried to go there today and it was 100% empty)- so its not even an option! I had the issue with the Carnival Cuts in Great Lakes.... This time I took my son to the JcPenny salon and it was fantastic! Even without the TV or toys, he sat still, go this haircut and loved watching the very busy salon in the mirrors. We just walked in and we were done in about 15 minutes.

I have a 3 yo, at the time we took him to the place in Lakeside mall - he was 2. Although there were a lot of things for him to look at - he did not enjoy the experience not to mention the bad haircut he got. For over a year now I have been taking him to the same lady that does my hair - since he knows her from doing my hair, she has good rapport with him he never gets a bad haircut with her. I suggest you take your girls with you next time you visit the person who does your hair and get them excited about having an adult hairstyler doing their hair too.

I have taken my daughter to carnival cuts (which is not closed) at lakeside mall and they over charged and did not do a good job on my daughters hair. I then took her to my hair stylist and I felt she over charged as well (mind you my 2 1/2yr old has curly hair and it is short) and did an ok job. We then just a couple of days ago took her to the place my husband goes, Express Cuts on Hayes, they charged 9 bucks and did a GREAT job. They even styled it for her and was able to say how it was cut wrong before and why you don't do it that way for kids. Also she could tell us that she had hair coming in and why she did not want to cut a certain area too much. Shelia is the stylist and she is actually the owner of the salon and is at the salon all the time and you can get an appt with her. I was very happy and will be taking my daughter back in the future!

Hi S.,

I know this is a late response, but I wanted to tell you about the place where I bring my kids now that Carnival Cuts at Lakeside is closed. It's a fairly new place called Motor City Kutz, located on Hall Road just east of Heydenreich. (I never know if I'm spelling that right.) They specialize in children's cuts, although they do adults as well. One side of the shop is full of race cars for kids to sit in (along with tv's with cartoons playing), and the other side is full of regular chairs for adults. They have toys in their waiting area as well.

I gotta tell you, I tried that place because it came highly recommended by a friend. The first time I went, I thought it was awful because there was only one employee there, and she was doing both hair cuts AND desk duty (answering phones, taking money, etc.) It was taking too long for her to get to us and that's not good, considering my 21 month old daughter was really starting to act up. Then she said their credit card machine was down, and since I had to use my debit card, we had to leave w/out getting my son's hair cut. My friend who recommended this place urged me to try it again, so we went back a week later, and I had a much better experience. The time before just must've been a fluke, because now they had 2 people working there and their credit card machine was working again. The girl who cut my son's hair did an excellent job, both in the way that she cut his hair and the way she talked to my kids. I did like this place better than Carnival Cuts, I am just disappointed about Carnival Cuts closing because we used to make a day of it at the mall (start off with a morning snack of fruit smoothies at Sun City Surf (or whatever that place is called), then hair cut, then play area, then stop in at the Disney store, then lunch at that Koney Island right by the play area.) Now we will have to think of something else to do! Good luck!

We have been going to Carnival Cuts at Great Lakes Crossing
for years. They do a really good job, especially on my daughter who has curly hair. I am also the mom of twins, but 5 yo boy/girl.

I HATE those mall places. I don't know where you live, but if you go to Lakeside this might work for you. I go to a women's house. Her name is Annie and she lives on Romeo Plank between 24 and 25 miles. She cuts my whole families hair (my cousins, aunts). She is awesome! She just cut my 14 mos old hair this weekend and we have gotten so many compliments. If you don't mind that it isn't a fancy salon, she is great. ###-###-####.

I take my 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year olds to Fantastic Sams, Borics, and places like that. They all have little boosters for them to sit up on and usually have kiddie capes for them and suckers available. They usually have lower prices for kids cuts as well and so far they have all seemed very used to cutting little kids hair.
