Big Leagues. They even give you a certificate with a piece of his hair. They have Tv's on cartoons for them and you sit on the chair with them while they cut his hair. My son loved it.
My son just turned one, and needs his first haircut. I don't want to take him just anywhere, as he is very wiggly & I'm not sure how he'll do sitting still for a haircut. Where did you take your little one for their first haircut? I'm looking for a great kid's place...I'm located in Apopka, but willing to travel a bit for this (downtown Orlando, for example). I've heard Harmony Barber at Magic Kingdom is GREAT, but I'm not really willing to pay entrance to the park, just for a haircut. TIA for all your help!!

H., I have 3 children and I cut their hair when they were little. No, I'm not a hair-stylist but if you are just looking to do a little trim, then I'd suggest giving it a try. I was SUPER nervous when I cut my first baby's hair for the first time. With my third baby, he is now 2 years old and has curly hair. I bring him in the shower with me and snip a little at a time. Their hair grows so fast and I have to trim my son's hair once every month. It can be costly if your stylist charges more than $5.
my co-worker just took her son for his first haircut.
will ask her today and get back with you.
he cried and wiggled, but the girl was kind.
and it looked good!
I took my son to Harmony Barber shop, and it was worth it. They do an AWESOME job. The plus being they do scissor cuts, not clippers, on little boys. My son is a major wiggler and they kept him completely distracted by sickers all over him before they started. He is completely freeked out witgh clippers, so this was great for him.
We just went to Cow Licks in Boca. It was really cute. They took a before and after picture and gave us a certificate. They also had TVs and the chairs were not chairs, but were jeeps, cars and planes. It was very cool.
my son got hisfirst 35-10 military cut at the NCO club on Kadena AFB Okinowa Japan.. Call around and ask if the cutters are used to kids? A little tylenal will slow him down.. Get your cut just before him the Japanese girls were great playing and hair cutting t the same time. Let Dad take him, it's a bonding. my kds are old enoughnow to be particular about hair cuts but for youthats 20+n years away.
enjoy the baby hair really doesn't matter.
There is a new place now over in Avalon Park called Sharkey's Cuts For Kids....very cool. A completely child themed salon with cars, gaming and even a glamour area for little girls! You can check it out at http://www.sharkeyscutsforkids.com/loc_orlando.html. They do a special 1st Haircut Package and even do parties!
Hi H.,
the only please I take my son to is Cool Cuts for Kids, in Lake mary/Sanford, I think they have other locations in Central Florida. But they are I think like $16/haircut. I know it's very expensive, which it hurts me everytime I pay it ! ha! but u know what i take him because they only deal w/kids, it's great I've going there every 3 months or so for a year now, and have tried like 3 different ladies and they have been great lots of patience, friendly, they give him a lolly pop and put a dvd and make it fun. When my son had his first haircut my friend told me about it and I took him and they have a package for "the first haircut" which includes a picture and they give u a piece of cut hair to kee. too cute! My 3 year old is very picky and cries a lot when you touch his hair and he does cry but they handle him very good! I give them A++++! Try it if you can't find another place. Good luck!
I take my son to Big League Haircuts in Oviedo. It's a chain so they may have one on your side of town. It's advertised as a "man's place" to get a cut because they are heavy on a sports theme but the reason it's great for little ones is they have a tv monitor at every station and can get Noggin, Disney Channel, etc. My 20 month old would not sit for a cut at a traditional salon but he sat through a cut at this place. I won't take him anywhere else and they do a good job. Good Luck!
there is a place by the coral square mall in coral springs. they are about $18 for a haircut. they have tv's with dora, the wiggles, etc. if you join the mailing list, they should send coupons and stuff.
Good luck!

"Cool Cuts for Kids" in Sanford is an excellent place. Your son can sit in a fire engine or a taxi cab to get his haircut and watch any DVD he likes (they have tons to choose from) to distract him in case he gets fussy. Also, while you wait there is a Thomas Train Table and Lego blocks to play with. They accept walk-ins or appointments and are very friendly. They are on Rinehard Road. I also believe they have a "Baby's First Haircut" package that comes with some kind of commemorative item. I also live in Apopka and it's worth the drive for my 3-1/2-year-old son. Good luck!
