Hi Moms,
I'm just shy of 9 weeks and looking for opinons on getting your hair colored. I did have my hair colored while pregnant with our first but can't remember how far along I was. My doctor's office is closed today so I can't get a hold of them...I have an appointment tomorrow.
Side note - I've had a couple personal messages sent to me in the past week or so that lock up my computer when I try and open them. If you've sent me one, please try again.
Thanks!

Hi N.. I waited until after my first trimester with both my boys. I colored my hair after that point and while I was breastfeeding too.
Wait for single process until after first trimester. But you can do highlights now. Tell your stylist you are pregnant and do not want any product touching your scalp, they can highlight without putting chemicals on your scalp.
Hi N.,
I gave birth in March to a beautiful baby girl and I asked the same question during my pregnancy. I was told that after 12 weeks all of the main organs are formed and after that its ok to get your hair colored. I'm not sure about at 9 weeks. Good luck!

Hi,
My sister was told that she is not allowed to color or perm her hair the entire pregnancy. Along with during breast feeding which she does till the baby is atleast 1 year.
My Dr let me do it after the 1st trimester.
My doc said it's okay after the first 12 weeks...
Well nothing has been proven medically, but the medical groups suggest that you don't color your hair while pregnant. So if you can hold off until your baby is born, you would be better off save than sorry. Good luck with the pregnancy..
Hi N.
My doc advised against hair color. YOu can have heral color or Henna if u would like thru the end of the pregnancy.
Best of luck

I did it during my entire pregnancy several times and have a healthy little guy! My Dr. looked at me like I was crazy when I asked this question. He told me that there was no way anywhere near enough of the chemicals can get into your system to even reach your system, much less the baby.
My sister is a hair dresser and refused to color or highlight my hair during pregnancy. I actually get more compliments now at my original color (despite a few gray hairs coming through) She too advises against it, but if she has a client who is persistent, she will wait until after 14wks. Hope that helps.
I have been instructed that it is thought to be safer after the first trimester, but discouraged throughout pregnancy (yikes!)
Hi N.!
I don't know if you've already made your decision, but just wanted you to know that I had my hair dyed a couple of times while I was pregnant. It was after the first twelve weeks, but honestly not because it was intentional. I had read a couple of places that it was okay, then I asked my doctor who said it was okay, then a few friends who had dyed their hair while pregnant gave the thumbs up too. So I did it, and everything turned out fine.
Let us know how it turns out for you.
Good luck!
Lynn
if you get highlights it can be done during the pregnancy all the way to the end. if its color all over i will suggest semipermenant color .. cause depending on hormones.. permanent haircolor can turn your hair greenish cast.. so it s all up to you.. have a bless day.. J.
Hi N.
You are able to color your hair after your first trimester after three months.
I had asked the same question to my doctor when I was pregnant. She said that getting your hair colored is perfectly fine. Just make sure that you are in an open area so the fumes do not make you sick.
